JPMorgan extends JPM Coin directly to Ethereum. Its dollar deposit token, JPMD, was already available on Base since November 2025. It can now be used by approved institutional clients on the Ethereum network to make payments, settle transactions in tokenized assets, or move collateral. Kinexys has already processed over $4 trillion since its launch.

In brief
- JPM Coin is now available to institutional clients on Ethereum.
- JPMD allows transfers in tokenized dollars 24/7.
- Kinexys currently processes approximately $7 billion per day.
JPM Coin comes directly to Ethereum
JPMorgan had already deployed JPM Coin on Base, Coinbase’s Layer 2, in November 2025. The bank is now adding Ethereum itself. The choice is based in particular on the depth of liquidity available on the network and the quantity of financial assets already tokenized.
JPM Coin, whose ticker is JPMD, represents dollar deposits held at JPMorgan. An institutional client can therefore transform part of their bank deposit into tokens, transfer them to blockchain and then reconvert them.
Transactions can be completed in seconds, even outside normal banking hours. Emma Landriault, global head of Kinexys Labs, explains that crypto companies will be able to use JPMD for their on-chain payments. Financial institutions will, for their part, be able to settle transactions or post guarantees. JPMD, however, remains reserved for clients approved by JPMorgan. Ethereum therefore becomes public for the infrastructure, but access to the token remains controlled.
Ethereum recovers a new brick of institutional finance
JPM Coin is not JPMorgan’s first operation on Ethereum. In December 2025, the bank had already launched MONY, its monetary fund tokenized on Ethereum. The product started with $100 million contributed by JPMorgan and allows qualified investors to obtain exposure to short-term debt securities directly on-chain.
A second tokenized fund followed in May. The movement therefore goes beyond simple payments. Ethereum is beginning to bring together tokenized bank money, monetary funds, stablecoins and other real-world assets on a single infrastructure.
JPM Coin above all provides an important piece: the cash needed for payment. For example, an institution can purchase a tokenized asset and use an equally tokenized JPMorgan deposit to settle the transaction. Both legs of the operation can then run on blockchain infrastructures.
Kinexys has grown to a certain size in the meantime. JPMorgan says its blockchain platform has surpassed $4 trillion in cumulative transactions. Its average daily volume is now around $7 billion. In April, the bank was still talking about more than 3,000 billion cumulatively and around 5 billion dollars per day. Progress is rapid.
JPM Coin remains different from a classic stablecoin
JPMD looks a lot like a stablecoin on the surface. A token represents one dollar and can circulate on a public blockchain. The legal structure is different. JPM Coin represents a bank deposit at JPMorgan. The user must therefore be a customer of the bank and meet its eligibility criteria. USDC or USDT can, on the contrary, circulate between wallets without each holder having an account with their partner bank.
JPMorgan is experimenting with several networks for this model. After Base and Ethereum, the bank also plans to extend JPM Coin to Canton Network, an infrastructure particularly oriented towards institutional financial markets.
The arrival on Ethereum, however, remains symbolic. JPMorgan has long favored its own private blockchain infrastructures. It now directly uses public networks for certain financial products while maintaining control over authorized users. The Ethereum network is therefore not simply welcoming a new dollar token. It directly hosts the deposits of one of the world’s largest banks in tokenized form.
