BRICS: UAE-China, a fruitful alliance, 6,000 companies involved and bright prospects in sight

The desire of the BRICS to escape the influence of the dollar takes various forms. One of them is the consolidation of their commercial relationships. Two countries have distinguished themselves in this area. This is China, a founding member of the organization which invests massively in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a new member of the BRICS.

When BRICS membership does Abu Dhabi’s business

Since its recent accession to BRICS, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has experienced a surge in economic activity driven by China. The Chinese ogre now seems to be more interested in the economic potential of this Persian Gulf country.

This is at least what is shown some recent information which indicate the arrival of 6,000 Chinese companies in the UAE. A renewed interest which marks an important milestone in the 40 years of bilateral cooperation between the two nations.

It therefore appears that the UAE’s inclusion in BRICS has paved the way for increased economic collaboration between the two nations. When we know the geopolitical issues involved, we quickly come to the conclusion that this is not a coincidence.

Indeed, Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, is of strategic importance in China’s international trade policy. In this case the new Silk Roads project, unveiled by the Chinese government in 2013.

Collaboration between China and UAE within BRICS intensifies

Towards an intensification of commercial relations between members of the BRICS?

But if this development is not a coincidence, it is also for another, much more important reason. Indeed, the co-option of the UAE by the BRICS paves the way for an intensification of their cooperation in various vital sectors.

We particularly mention the fields of energy, biotechnology, tourism, financial services and, more broadly, technology. As a reminder, this sector is causing a lot of talk, particularly regarding the possibilities of using it to deploy a common currency among the BRICS. This, with possible digital options such as cryptos.

But the interpretation of the implications of the recent consolidation of trade relations between China and the UAE can be broadened. We can indeed see in this event a broader commitment to strategic global partnerships.

This is at least one of the aspects of geopolitics that the BRICS seem to deploy. This, in accordance with their desire to restore more equitable and just international relations. The complete opposite of Western domination carried by the United States and their currency, the dollar, which they are actively working to get rid of.
