Vexl and Bitfinex launch P2P applications for buying BTC

The good news lately is the creation of new P2P bitcoin exchanges by Vexl and Bitfinex.

Bitcoin P2P

Bitfinex launches Bitfinex P2P for Argentinians, Venezuelans and Colombians. The exchange fills part of the void left by the closures of the P2P exchanges LocalBitcoin in February and Paxful in April.

Especially since it is now impossible to buy bitcoins directly on an exchange in these countries (except in Colombia). The reason being that their central banks no longer have foreign exchange reserves, which prevents obtaining BTC abroad.

Bitfinex P2P offers a simple two-step process. A “Maker” creates an “announcement” to signal its intention to exchange bitcoins, ETH or stablecoins USDT, EURT and Tether Gold. In a second time, “Takers” can then decide to commit to the transaction.

Everything is done directly on the application in case of exchange of a cryptocurrency for another cryptocurrency. However, it is necessary to meet in person in case of exchange for peso or bolivar (fiat currency).

We can read in the communicated :

“Using Bitfinex’s P2P platform, our clients can enjoy instant crypto-to-crypto settlements and create ads with various payment methods at some of the lowest fees in the market. »

Access to this Peer-to-Peer service is done directly from your Bitfinex account. Just click on P2P in the top navigation bar.

For added peace of mind when interacting with unknown people, Bitfinex P2P features public profiles. It contains, for example, information such as the volume of transactions and the number of transactions.

A mobile application should be launched later this year. Meanwhile, that of Vexl Already exists.

Vexl

The application created by the Czech SatoshiLabs (the parent company of Trezor) has been available in the Czech Republic as well as in Slovakia since last year.

However, the Vexl foundation announced at the BTC Prague conference that it is now available worldwide (except in the United States, which will not be long in coming).

Vexl is a mobile application that offers its users an easy and safe way to trade bitcoins “peer-to-peer and without KYC, as originally planned”.

The absence of KYC, however, makes it difficult to integrate stablecoins. It is therefore necessary to meet in person to exchange bitcoins.

To avoid any mishap, it is possible to configure the application to only receive announcements from its telephone contacts and the contacts of its contacts (two circles).

That said, moving around is pointless when transacting with a friend. A bank transfer in complete confidence will suffice. Vexl even offers to automate the thing via Revolut.

Very appreciably, Vexl takes care not to collect any information on the users of the application which, moreover, is open-source :

“Vexl’s chats are end-to-end encrypted, keeping your data private and secret. This means that only the person you are chatting with, no one else, sees your messages, not even us. If you delete the chat, your messages disappear forever. We do not store any personal information or any of your messages, period. »

This application is essential for exchanging BTC between bitcoiner friends. Especially since Vexl does not charge any fees.
