Alex Jupiter, senior product manager at MetaMask Snaps, made statements on the subject. He argued : “MetaMask has historically been an Ethereum wallet. We have to start moving beyond that. The multi-channel future is very clear“.

More details on the project under development

A snap is a program through which the user experience of a digital wallet can be personalized. It runs in an isolated environment. With snaps, developers have the ability to extend the capabilities of a wallet extension. They can use them for add new APIs and multi-blockchain protocol support on MetaMask.

Jupiter has indicated that snaps can be added to the majority of existing blockchain protocols. “Technically, it is possible for us to integrate them all. I’m sure there will be a borderline case. We have successfully extended Bitcoin, extended StarkNet. So it should be possible with any of them“, did he declare.

As Jupiter explained, with MetaMask’s new project, users will no longer need to go anywhere else. The Ethereum-based wallet will be able to “almost be the heart of your Web3 experience“. Separately, Jupiter suggested that Snaps could help users be confident in the trustworthiness of the transactions they sign.
