Here's how Ethereum wants to make your transactions really invisible

The question of confidentiality returns in force in the Ethereum ecosystem. No more theoretical discussions that last for months, the foundation takes action. With her Privacy Stewards of Ethereum (PSE) initiative, she displays an ambitious roadmap. Objective: bring privacy into all layers of the network. Invisible transactions, decentralized identity and confidential voting are no longer slogans. They become priorities to build the digital infrastructure of tomorrow.

A masked hero, symbol of Ethereum, hides under a cape in front of a spy satellite in the urban night.

In short

  • Ethereum Foundation has transformed Privacy & Scaling Explorations into Privacy Stewards of Ethereum.
  • The roadmap provides Plasmafold, Kohaku Wallet and confidential voting protocol.
  • Vitalik Buterin defends privacy as a fundamental right to states and businesses.
  • The US Treasury Department wants to impose identity in the DEFI, arousing the Crypto opposition.

Ethereum unveils a privacy roadmap

Ethereum Foundation, driven by a desire to repair its network, renamed its program “Privacy & Scaling Explorations” in Privacy Stewards of Ethereum. This moult marks a turning point: it is no longer just research but a mission for the entire ecosystem. The roadmap sets clear objectives over the next six months. Plasmafold must allow private transfers, Aragon will be mobilized for a confidential voting protocol, and the Kohaku portfolio will complement the experience.

The team also works to limit information leaks related to RPC services. In parallel, tools like ZKTLS aim to make the identity decentralized more robust. The official announcement sums up philosophy:

Ethereum deserves the central infrastructure of global digital trade, identity, collaboration and the Internet of value. But this potential is impossible without data, transactions and private identity.

Towards an invisible Ethereum: freedom or black box?

The vision of Privacy Stewards is to transform Ethereum into an invisible network. Three axes structure this ambition: Private Writes (confidential writing), Private Reads (consultation without trace) and Private Proving (discreet cryptographic evidence). The objective is to give each user the possibility of transferring, voting or identifying without exposing their data.

Vitalik Buterin has repeatedly expressed his vision on the issue. For him, transparency is more of bug than functionality in the digital age. He considers privacy as essential to protect individuals in the face of the growing power of states and large companies.

This vision appeals to part of the Crypto community, convinced that Ethereum must become the base of digital freedom. But for others, an opaque network may transform into a black box perceived as threatening by regulators.

Crypto under pressure from American regulators

Confidentiality projects arrive when regulators want to impose their rules. The US Treasury Department plans to code identity checks directly in the Smart Contracts DEFI.

For the Crypto community, this would amount to registering surveillance at the very heart of the decentralized infrastructure.

Some figures and key facts:

  • 2.67 million ETH are currently in the queue of validators withdrawals, a record;
  • 3 to 6 months: the calendar set to deliver the first concrete PSE projects;
  • Plasmafold and Kohaku represent two flagship sites around private transfers;
  • Us Treasury pushes identity measures that worry actors in the sector.

In the technical document, the warning is clear:

Ethereum is about to become the regulation layer of the world, but without solid confidentiality, it risks becoming the spine of global surveillance rather than that of world freedom.

Ethereum leads several combat in parallel. Confidentiality is its strategic lever today, but Vitalik Buterin is not limited to it. He is already thinking about other threats. Faced with quantum risks, it also proposes to explore alternatives to secure artificial intelligence (AI). This posture confirms that the future of blockchain is not only played out on privacy, but on the whole of global digital governance.
