Exclusive interview with Avalanche's Emin Gün Sirer

During the second edition of the Avalanche Summit in Barcelona, from May 3 to 5, Tremplin.io teams had the opportunity to meet and interview exclusively Emin Gün Sirer, former professor at the prestigious Cornell University in the United States. United and founding CEO of Ava Labs.

Introduction

During the Avalanche Summit, Emin Gün Sirer and Avalanche announced numerous partnerships. Alibaba, Fireblocks, Vodafone, Chainlink, etc., the list goes on and shows in which direction Avalanche is moving. After the group photo with the Ava Labs team, Emin Gün Sirer gave us about thirty minutes at the end of the third day to come and conclude this Avalanche summit and talk to us about his vision for the future of the ecosystem. .

Interview

Q: After three days of intense discussions, on more than four stages, with a hundred speakers, we had the opportunity to hear and discuss a lot of subjects. What do you think are the most important points covered?

To start, I would like to mention one of the revolutions that we are going to bring to the ecosystem, the COA, or “Coin-Operated Agents”. These are AI-operated agents on a blockchain that can process transactions written in a native human language, be it English, French, Turkish or otherwise. With COAs, there is no longer any need for Solidity, Rust or another programming language, it will now be possible to interact directly with the AI in a natural way by trusting it as a reference executor.

This is one of my personal ideas and I wanted to present it at the Avalanche Summit in order to show all the possibilities. It’s a particularly bold idea that will certainly cause many reactions in the Web3 ecosystem, but not only.

COAs will be able to allow non-developers to start developing, although developers will always have an advantage. This is because they better understand the mechanism and how to communicate with the AI.

The second point is the uses that come out when discussing subnets. Indeed, whether for gaming, DeFi, MNBC or government use, subnets are the ideal solution, for many reasons. Indeed, for video games for example, being able to control the costs, the loading, to be the master in your own kingdom, is in a certain way a small revolution. Public blockchains may not be suitable for everyone.

Finally, I note the enormous success of certain assets launched on the Avalanche blockchain, in particular the explosion of BTC.b. Interestingly, there are currently more BTC.b in circulation than BTC on the Lightning Network. A phenomenon that is partly explained by all the advantages that the Avalanche network offers for owners of BTC.b, such as access to DeFi.

Q: The number of active subnets is around 40 on Avascanwe go up to 58 recorded on explore it Avalanche. What do you think of these numbers?

I think the future of subnets will be in the hundreds of thousands. So far we are seeing a steady growth in the number of subnets developing and the interest is clearly exponential. We have a very good architecture to attract projects and help them during development.

Q: How do I go from 50 to 100,000 subnets?

First, at launch, we lacked a full wallet architecture. Indeed, the wallet was designed to interact with a single chain at that time. With the Core Wallet, everything changes. We have the ability to interact with all channels, and this is done natively. In addition, Wrapped Messaging now connects subnets to each other to create even more interaction.

Q: Do you think price is an issue in development?

We would like to see even more decentralization, for that, the cost of decentralization should not rest only on one entity. The architecture around subnets puts pressure on projects to create incentives to join a particular subnet. It is a decentralized competition.

Q: How do you see the future of interconnection? With offers such as Avalanche’s Wrapped Messaging, IBC or Axelar’s messaging?

I think eventually we’re going to see a proliferation of communication offerings between blockchains to create a truly interconnected Web3. At some point we will be connected with all these other products and services.

Q: How to attract developers and talents on Avalanche and not on another blockchain?

We first partnered with companies like Amazon to give away $100k to the most interesting projects that would like to build on Avalanche. Our technology is superior and developers are the first to realize it. Plus, we always do our best to listen and do everything we can to make sure developers have what they need with us.

End of Avalanche Summit

With these words, we end our exclusive interview with Emin Gün Sirer. Much was said at the Avalanche Summit, and subnets are clearly in a growth phase in terms of interest, possibility, and builds. Avalanche is gearing up to become the go-to blockchain for gaming, DeFi, businesses looking to retain full control over their blockchains. Additionally, Ava Labs continues to surprise us with releases of powerful tools like COA, Wrapped Messaging, and Core Wallet.

In the months and years to come, it will be interesting to follow the evolution of Avalanche and its subnets. The blockchain and cryptocurrency industry is constantly evolving, and innovative projects like Avalanche have the potential to transform the digital landscape.

The success of projects launched on the Avalanche platform will largely depend on the team’s ability to attract and retain developers and partners. If innovations like COAs, Wrapped Messaging, and the Core Wallet continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible, Avalanche may well establish itself as a major player in the blockchain space.

Nevertheless, it should be remembered that the success of Avalanche will also depend on developments in the broader blockchain and cryptocurrency industry. Regulators, governments and other industry players will influence the success of Avalanche and its competitors. Therefore, it will be essential for the Avalanche team to stay informed and adaptable in the face of these changes.

Conclusion

Overall, the Avalanche Summit highlighted the progress Avalanche has made and highlighted the innovations and challenges ahead for the platform. By continuing to attract talent and partners, meeting developer needs, and maintaining a clear vision for the future, Avalanche stands every chance of continuing to grow and thrive in the blockchain and cryptocurrency space.
