From NFT Biarritz to SHAKA: a story that dates back to 2022
The event was not a trial run. Launched in 2022 under the name NFT Biarritzit has already been the subject of Tremplin.io coverage from its second edition, with the support at the time of Solana, Polygon or Ledger. Renamed SHAKA in 2024 to broaden its spectrum to artificial intelligence and tech in the broad sense, the festival is now in its fifth edition according to the organizers. A sign of its traction, the general press has followed the movement: Le Figaro, Capital, 20 Minutes and Sud Ouest have each devoted an article to the event in recent years.
The format remains faithful to the Basque DNA of the event: mornings of networking while running or surfing, workshops and round tables in the afternoon, closing parties in the evening. The SHAKA Awards ceremony opens the ball on the first evening, a surf & yoga session punctuates the second day, and the festival ends with a walk to the Biarritz lighthouse followed by an ocean view brunch.
Who will be on stage: a stage focused on AI and Web3
The SHAKA Festival boasts more than 80 speakers, with a strong focus on tech, finance and the French ecosystem. Among the names already announced: Paul MidyMP and figure in French tech politics, Rachel DelacourCEO of Sweep, Francis LelongCEO of Alegria Groupe, or even Sylvain Theveniaudfounder of Allianz Accelerator. Other speakers must be announced in the weeks leading up to the event.
On the crypto ecosystem side, the list of 2026 partners confirms the Web3 anchoring of the festival: Binance, Crypto.com, Polkadot and Solana appear alongside institutional players such as BPI France, Airbus or the Communauté d’Agglomération Pays Basque, a fairly rare mixture which has made the reputation of the event. Project leaders are not forgotten: the SHAKA Startup Challenge allows selected startups to pitch on stage in front of investors.
An audience of decision-makers, not a simple beach festival
Behind the relaxed atmosphere; surfing, yoga, skateboarding, the organizers highlight precise targeting: 72% of participants would be founders, directors or decision-makers, according to the figures communicated by SHAKA. A positioning confirmed by feedback from former participants, such as that of Albin Serviant, ambassador to La French Touch, who describes an event “100% recommended, 0% sanitized”. On Trustpilotthe festival has a rating of 4.7/5.
The talks are held mainly in French, with interventions in English depending on the speakers, the audience is presented as bilingual and international by the organizers. No level required for sporting activities: instructors supervise all profiles, from complete beginners to experienced surfers.
