Recently, applications for spot Bitcoin ETFs from asset managers Ark Invest and 21 Shares came under review. BlackRock and Bitwise have also just joined this dynamic which suggests that the approval of a spot Bitcoin ETF is actively being discussed with the SEC.
Added New Items to BlackRock and Bitwise Bitcoin ETF Filing
The latest news is that asset managers BlackRock and Bitwise have once again revised their applications for spot Bitcoin ETFs. This is revealed by documents published on the website of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Essentially, the improvements BlackRock’s submissions to its application relate to the trustee’s commitment to actively monitor and respond to unusual price movements. A crucial aspect, justified by the volatility of the crypto market.
In addition, BlackRock has added elements to strengthen its compliance with anti-money laundering rules. Additions examined by the PwC firm which further strengthen the credibility of the financial company’s Bitcoin ETF application file.
As for Bitwise, it has also refined its application through the prism of the evolving financial and crypto landscape. Its changes, like BlackRock’s, can be seen as a strategy to present a compelling Bitcoin Spot ETF application for approval. This is in line with the expectations of the financial regulator.
Approval of a Bitcoin ETF planned for January!
ETF industry analysts are closely monitoring these developments and predict a historic decision in January 2024. Experts James Seyffarth and Eric Balchunas notably expect a 90% chance that the SEC will give the green light to a spot Bitcoin ETF before the 10 January 2024.
This date coincides with the final decision regarding ARK Invest’s application. Which gives additional importance to these expectations. Even if it must be recognized that the SEC can still decide otherwise.
Market optimism over the approval of a Bitcoin Spot ETF reflects a growing recognition of the maturation of cryptos. But also their acceptance, in traditional financial frameworks, dominated by asset managers.
As these major players navigate the regulatory landscape, the potential approval of a spot Bitcoin ETF could mark a turning point. It would open up new perspectives for investors, further legitimizing the crypto market on a global scale.
