The Web3 hackathon in Ukraine saw the participation of Buterin

On September 6, 2022, Ukraine hosted a Web3 hackathon. This event aimed to develop software solutions to help Ukraine during and after the war. It is more concretely an innovation project to which is added a complex of infrastructures to accommodate promising technological start-ups.

This Web3 hackathon, the Kyiv Tech Summit, saw the participation of a well-known figure in the cryptocurrency market: Vitalik Buterin. During his first visit to Ukraine, the founder of Ethereum did not hide his admiration for the fact that such a technological event could take place while the country is in the midst of war.

Ethereum Founder Believes in Ukraine’s Potential

Reported by many sites, including Ain.Capital, Vitalik Buterin believes that Ukraine has a great asset to become a Web3 hub. According to him, this country has all the potential to become a Web3 hub. However, it must meet two conditions:

  • interest in technology (i.e. Web3),
  • an important contribution to allow this technology to develop.

Still according to Vitalik Buterin, the Ukrainians fulfill these conditions perfectly. He also finds that Ukraine has both the skills and the determination to create an active Web3 community.

The Web 3 hackathon or Kyiv Tech Summit went off without a hitch in Ukraine as the country is currently at war. This connotes the population’s interest in Web3 technology. It remains to be seen if the Ukrainians are really ready to invest in this project. A case to follow…
