Ubisoft moves into Web3 with Rabbids NFTs on The Sandbox

Ubisoft is the French video game company that developed Assassin’s Creed. She was also the first to include NFTs in a video game. At the time, the concept did not appeal to all players. But today, it is a great success. So much so that the company has partnered with The Sandbox, a very Metaverse and NFT-oriented crypto game. The goal is to integrate “Raving Rabbids” avatars into the game. The avatars will be available in different rarity levels.

The Sandbox announcing on Twitter that the launch of Rabbids avatars in its game will take place this February 22 at 2 p.m. UTC.

Raving Rabbids in The Sandbox, how will it go?

This Wednesday, February 22 at 2 p.m., avatars of the famous Rabbids will be launched in The Sandbox game. Decrypt informs us that the avatars produced by Ubisoft will number 2,066. The event will arrive in time for the Lunar New Year celebration since it is the year of the rabbit. Note, however, that not all avatars will have the same potential. By the way, each of them will provide special benefits in the game.

As a reminder, the Rabbids are not new to the world of The Sandbox. Indeed, last year, the Metaverse NFT game featured Rabbid NFT items and accessories in its museum collection. Each of the new avatars will be sold for 100 SAND, or around $78. On February 28, The Sandbox will launch a special Raving Rabbids game in alpha version.

What future for Ubisoft in Web3?

There seem to be two parallel video game industries: one that is metaverse and NFT-oriented, and the others. Ubisoft is one of the few developers that embraces both philosophies. Despite many failures, the company continues its odyssey in the world of NFTs. We remember the famous HashCraft produced in 2018. It was a kind of Minecraft, but with NFTs. We also know him from collaborations with Nine Chronicles and Animoca Brands, Web3 projects.

The collaboration between Ubisoft and The Sandbox brings together two giants in their respective fields. The joint project seems solid and promising. Ubisoft could finally have the success it deserves on Web3 and NFT. But do we really have to wish that traditional game companies are coming to the web3 and integrate NFTs?
