A conversation with Elena Dali Bey, Global Head of Growth at ChangeNOW.

Today, she shares her strategic vision on the latest evolution of ChangeNOW and the key initiatives that are driving this growth.

In brief

  • Elena Dali Bey explains how ChangeNOW is accelerating its growth strategy through significant product innovations and global expansion.
  • It introduces Private Send, a feature integrated into NOW Wallet that improves transaction privacy while maintaining AML compliance and regulatory alignment.
  • The discussion highlights the delicate balance between blockchain privacy and transparency, with ChangeNOW positioning itself against excessive on-chain surveillance without circumventing legal frameworks.
  • ChangeNOW extends to tokenized real assets, enabling seamless trading of stocks, ETFs, and commodities alongside crypto assets, reflecting the convergence of traditional finance and blockchain.

ChangeNOW has been making a lot of noise lately. To get started, can you walk us through the most notable product updates that have been released recently?

It’s been a busy start to the year, honestly. The launch that probably attracted the most attention was Private Send, a functionality integrated directly into NOW Wallet which breaks the visible link between the sender's address and that of the recipient on the blockchain. In practice, it's simply a switch you activate during a transfer. Funds are routed through our infrastructure before reaching their destination, so your address never appears in the recipient's transaction history.

It is not an anonymization tool in the technical sense since every transaction still goes through our standard AML checks. But for someone who manages several wallets, or who pays subcontractors without wanting to expose all their on-chain activity, this makes a real difference on a daily basis.

Blockchain privacy is a sensitive topic. How do you balance user demand for privacy with industry pressure for regulatory transparency?

This is a legitimate question, which we take seriously. Our starting point is a simple observation: public blockchains were designed for financial freedom, not to allow analytics firms to map billions of addresses and build profiles on ordinary people. Surveillance has become the norm, Private Send is a way to push back against this.

That said, this does not mean operating in a regulatory gray zone. Every transaction goes through the same controls as the rest of our platform. We're not building a tool to circumvent laws, we're giving people the ability to avoid being constantly tracked for perfectly legitimate reasons.

Another product update: Limit Orders. What does this change for your users?

Until now, ChangeNOW mainly worked on instant exchanges: you want to convert, you get the market rate at that precise moment. Limit Orders Change Logic : You set the price at which you want to buy or sell, and the trade executes automatically when the market reaches that level.

For anyone who follows the markets closely, this is a long-awaited feature. This means you're no longer at the mercy of timing, you're not missing an opportunity because you weren't looking at your screen. It is a step towards a more sophisticated offering, without sacrificing the simplicity that has always been our signature.

You also launched access to Real World Assets. This is a sector that is generating enormous enthusiasm: why now, and what does this concretely bring to your users?

The timing comes from the market itself. The tokenization of real assets (stocks, ETFs, precious metals) has gone from a niche concept to something tangible in two years. Our users want to be able to trade tokens representing Tesla, Nvidia, or SP500 ETF shares with the same ease as they trade BTC for ETH. It's exactly what we offer them at ChangeNOW.

The idea is to stop forcing people to choose between the crypto world and traditional markets. These assets are available for direct trading on our platform, at real-time prices, without a brokerage account, without a traditional intermediary. This convergence was inevitable, we are just taking our place in it.

You recently opened an office in Dubai. What does this mean strategically for ChangeNOW?

Choosing Dubai was a strategic choice made in full awareness of the current geopolitical context. We know the challenges of the region, but we also believe that there is potential for stabilization of the situation and growth both financial and technological.

The city has become a real center of gravity for the crypto industry: clear regulations, concentration of serious players, access to markets which are opening up quickly. Having a physical presence there means anchoring our growth in a region where things change quickly and where partnerships are built face-to-face.

And that’s not our only big breakthrough. In May we will be in Miami for Consensus. It's one of the must-attend events in the space, and we go there with the intention of having real conversations, not just taking over a booth.

France seems to be a major priority for you this year. What is the strategy there?

France really matters to us. Our Strategy Director, Pauline Shangett, will speak at the ETHCC event (March 30 – April 2) and Hack Seasons conference (April 1) in Cannes, sharing his vision on the growth and development of the RWA sector. It's an event that's really growing, with an audience located at the intersection of technical and business, which perfectly matches our audience.

Then in June, we will participate in Proof of Talk in Paris, at the Palais du Louvre, on June 2 and 3. It is an event that we greatly appreciate because the setting is exceptional, and the discussions are often more in-depth than at most conferences. This is our way of clearly saying that the French crypto community is a real development priority for us.

Finally, you announce a documentary on ChangeNOW. Why a documentary, and why now?

We've been around since 2017, and honestly, we've been through a lot. There is a human story in these years, beyond the transactions and the growth curves, that we felt the need to tell. The documentary allows us to share the times when nothing was guaranteed and the people who made it happen anyway. It comes out on April 30, and it's a very honest window into what it really means to build in crypto.
