While some institutions are still hesitating, the French university Paris Dauphine – PSL announces a more than surprising novelty. Indeed, it will give, for the very first time, a diploma in the form of NFT.

Remember that the university is the first in the country to offer a continuing education in decentralized finance (DeFi). This decision seems to be the culmination of a long struggle. According to the director of the Fintech Chair, he had this idea five or six years ago. However, the environment was not conducive to its deployment.

Now, Paris Dauphine University has the opportunity to anchor itself in Web3. To this end, why do things the classic way? According to Hervé Alexandre, professor and creator of the Cursus, this graduation is symbolic, because it marks a big step in history.

A diploma but not only… a proof of reliability too

The first series of NFT diplomas from Paris Dauphine University will take place on July 6th. However, even if it is a novelty, Hervé Alexandre confides that it is not just a fantasy. Not only will these NFTs be able to embed benefits in the future, they could potentially help combat document forgery.

Indeed, the duplication of false documents is increasingly common. In France, for example, the rate fluctuates around 8% according to the specialized site Verifdiploma. Thus, the diploma in the form of a digital token takes a considerable advantage over a traditional diploma.

This initiative is timely, especially since cryptos and Web3 are more popular than ever despite the decline. However, it should still be noted that the issuance of a degree in the form of NFT from Paris Dauphine University is not an isolated case. Indeed, the University of Lille issued its first certificate in 2021.
