The new Openai tool, called Responsses API, is now accessible to all developers at no additional cost. It replaces the API Assistants, whose abolition is planned by the second half of 2026. Increasing Chinese competition
The timing of this announcement owes nothing to chance. In recent weeks, several Chinese startups have unveiled efficient AI models, sometimes deemed comparable to the best American solutions. Among them:
- Monica, who has just launched her manus agent, presented as more efficient than Deepresearch of Openai;
- Deepseek, who received praise from engineers from Silicon Valley for his latest models;
- Alibaba, whose team behind the Qwen models, has teamed up with Monica to strengthen its AI capacities.
These companies highlight solutions capable of achieving high performance while being more financially accessible.
A strategic duel between the United States and China
These advances illustrate an increasing rivalry between the United States and China in the field of AI. OPENAI, supported by Microsoft, has to face a rapid rise in Chinese startups, which benefit from:
- reduced development costs;
- a dynamic technological ecosystem;
- Reinforced support from local giants like Alibaba.
Although less publicized in the West, these Chinese models are starting to attract engineers and businesses in the United States.
