The number of addresses with at least 1 BTC reached one million
The fallout from bitcoin’s recent rise is a bit more visible. Information disclosed by GlassnodeMonday, May 15, show a significant rise in addresses holding at least 1 BTC (wholecoiners).
According to the crypto data provider, the latter have now crossed the million mark. This figure, reached since last Saturday, May 13, is an absolute record in the history of the flagship crypto. At the beginning of February 2022 alone, it would be some 190,000 wholecoiners that were added.
This is a concrete sign that the queen of cryptos is one of the fastest growing assets in the market. This, especially since the surge in wallets holding bitcoin is one of the largest ever recorded.
According to Glassnode, bitcoin’s momentum is remarkable. Especially when you realize that the asset was worth, a few months ago, 65% less than its current price. These trends make the provider think that the flagship crypto could be worth $35,000 in the medium term.
That said, Glassnode qualifies its figures on the rise of wholecoiners. The crypto data provider clarifies in particular that a bitcoin wallet address does not always represent a single individual.
From this perspective, the cases of users holding multiple bitcoin wallet addresses are legion. Not to mention that many of these addresses actually belong to institutional users.
All in all, it is not excluded that the number continues to increase given the attraction of bitcoin. For now, the asset is trading around $27,355, down 0.48% over the past week.
