Meta and Qualcomm: On the way to the metaverse revolution!

Cryptos, the metaverse and the Web3 are evolving. And the big players in the sector intend to take advantage of it before it’s too late. After becoming Meta, Mark Zuckerberg’s company is embarking on a new collaboration that will allow you to experience the metaverse differently.

Qualcomm and Meta done!

Digital has taken on a disproportionate scale in recent years, and entrepreneurs are seeing it. After changing its name, Mark Zuckerberg’s metaverse company intends to go even further. To do this, she associated to Qualcomm, one of the largest fabless mobile chip companies in the world.

Meta has long focused on the software part of the computing equation. Now the company is taking steps to improve its products. Thanks to the production of silicon, specially designed to fulfill the tasks of the metaverse, it will be able to provide more powerful and efficient chips for its Meta Quest product line.

The agreement was disclosed in a Press release, but no figures are known. For now, all we know is that these custom chips will use Qualcomm’s XR technology. The latter includes extended reality and virtual reality functions.

According to Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon, this collaboration is very important since it will allow both companies to redesign their metaverse, improve the way they work and connect in a fully realized ecosystem.

An update for more efficiency in the metaverse

Current Meta Quest 2 headsets use Qualcomm XR chips. However, these are based on an obsolete technology derived from a Qualcomm snapdragon 865 introduced in 2019. This new agreement will promote the production of innovative and scalable chips. Unlike previous chips designed for more traditional mobile tasks, these will enable metaverse development.

According to statements by Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Meta, the company continues to develop experiences and capabilities for virtual and augmented reality. However, it has become essential to develop new technologies suitable for powering future VR headsets and other devices.

Virtual reality, unlike mobile phones, requires extremely resources for its creation. Nevertheless, he confirmed that the new generation of Meta Quest helmets will come from this collaboration. As for Qualcomm, this is not the first time that the company has taken an interest in the metaverse.

In March, it launched a $100 million metaverse fund for the deployment of venture capital investments in the sector. Why ? Because Cristiano Amon is convinced that the metaverse presents many opportunities that will promote the creation of new markets.

Much like digital assets, the metaverse is gaining momentum over time. Mark Zuckerberg knows this because his company is in the middle of it right now. Thanks to its partnership with Qualcomm, Meta takes a step to give a new dimension to its Meta Quest product line with the production of silicon.
