Any observer of the crypto market knows, or should we say imagine, that Elon Musk is a fervent crypto enthusiast. However, the latter recently declared that cryptos do not occupy his thoughts much. A completely paradoxical statement. We’ll explain it to you.
Elon Musk meets Cathie Wood and doesn’t talk about crypto!
Recently, Elon Musk, well known for his commitment to the memecoin Dogecoin, met Cathie Wood, CEO of Ark Invest for an exchange on finance. During these discussions, cryptos, bitcoin (BTC) in this case, were on the agenda.
We would have expected the billionaire to address the subject in depth given his apparent exposure to the crypto sector. But Elon Musk took everyone by surprise by subtly refusing to speak about the flagship crypto. This, with A declaration intriguing to say the least.
“I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about cryptocurrencies, almost not at all”said Elon Musk, during his conversation with Cathie Wood, in response to a question regarding the potential impact of BTC on the financial system.
Does this mean that the billionaire, owner of social media platform X, is not in tune with crypto? Perhaps he is not as committed to the sector as some of his reactions suggest? In any case, he was reserved and preferred to talk about fiat money.
The crypto community disappointed
Elon Musk is being talked about for his influence on the crypto market, particularly with his involvement in Dogecoin (DOGE). But his latest statements did not meet the expectations set by announcements made before his discussion with Cathie Wood.
Indeed, the boss of Space X and Tesla was particularly expected on the issue of cryptos like bitcoin (BTC). Especially in this period when the asset is experiencing a remarkable resurgence. And it is not for nothing that his opinion was expected.
This is because the crypto community is impatiently awaiting a potential integration of bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies such as DOGE, into Tesla’s in-app payment services. From this point of view, the latter seems disappointed.
Elon Musk’s statements appear to have cast doubt on the prospect of such integration. Hopes for closer alignment between the billionaire’s businesses and the crypto space having been tempered, particularly where X (formerly Twitter) is concerned.
