In Canada, we regret having embarked on the crypto adventure
Canada may not have crypto-friendly leaders, but its population loves them. Justin Trudeau, the local prime minister, has already called bitcoin hodlers irresponsible.
And yet, there is change in the country.
“ Canadians’ interest in investing in cryptocurrencies is declining, 77% of them expressing regret on their past purchases, compared to 68% last year. A recent poll shows a decline in ownership and belief in the future importance of cryptocurrencies, reflecting broader skepticism. »
According to Crypto Potato, more and more Canadians regret buying cryptocurrencies this year. If in 2022, 68% of them were no longer enthusiastic about digital assets, this year, there are almost 77%.
And even worse, they stopped perceiving cryptos as a springboard of the current economy, and even less in the future.
These results came from a report from a survey conducted jointly by the OSC and Ipsos called “Crypto Assets Survey 2023”. 2,360 people, representing Canada in terms of gender, age and region, participated.
Other data to remember:
- crypto ownership among Canadians has decreased significantly, 13% in 2022 and 10% in 2023;
- most Canadian hodlers are men aged 25 to 44;
- they have an undergraduate degree or higher and work full time;
- 51% of those surveyed can give a fundamental definition of cryptocurrencies in 2022, 54% a year later;
- if investors convinced of the role of cryptos in the future were 49% in 2022, this decreased to 34% in 2023;
- etc.
However, at the moment, investor interest in bitcoin (BTC) is starting to grow at the moment due to an imminent bull run.
