Changpeng Zhao has denounced allegations that he was on Interpol’s red list. Competing exchanges are said to be the source of the rumors. He immediately reacted on his Twitter account. An official statement from Binance followed soon after in order to discredit the rumor.
What are the rumors about Changpeng Zhao all about?
Changpeng Zhao is the CEO of Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange. The man who is usually quite discreet had to make a exit in a hurry to denounce news that he is under investigation by Interpol. The man was surprised by the speed at which these rumors spread. DailyHodl tells us that the image was apparently doctored. This shows Binance’s CEO on Interpol’s “Red Notice” webpage.
For Changpeng Zhao, these rumors and montages would aim to spreading fear, uncertainty and doubt (FUD). He blames crypto news outlets and key opinion leaders in particular.
” The latest Fud was only released by crypto news outlets and KOLs, likely planted/sponsored by another exchange. Very petty. Hurt the industry and hurt them themselves. There are enough outside forces attacking us. Our industry needs to come together at this point. “he said in a tweet.
Where did the rumor about the Interpol red notice on CZ come from?
The rumors started when crypto influencer Cobie tweeted a SHA256 hash with an encrypted message, which read, ” Interpol Red Notice for CZ.”
According to the influencer, the message should not have been readable before the rumor was confirmed. He claims it was just a prediction.
” I’ve posted a SHA256 hash of rumors >20 times in the last year without the secret being revealed – the point of a hash commit scheme is that no one is supposed to be able to read them before let the secret be revealed…
Well, that’s a “prediction” and a rumor. It’s obviously impossible for this to be inside information without it being literal leaks to Interpol, which seems unlikely. »
After dispelling the rumor, Changpeng Zhao immediately called for the remobilization of the crypto industry. It calls for not paying attention to the phenomena of FUD. He is right to call for mobilization since external forces want to put an end to cryptocurrencies.
