Bitcoin – “No second best” for Fidelity

Giant investment fund Fidelity’s recent research report “Bitcoin First” highlights the unique characteristics of bitcoin. A must read!

Fidelity: There is no second best…

Here is a quote from the Fidelity report that should make you want to check it out:

“Bitcoin is fundamentally different from any other digital asset. No other digital asset is likely to improve upon it as a monetary good. It is the safest, most decentralized and most solid digital currency. Any “improvement” would actually be a compromise. »

Some highlights of the report :

“Fidelity manages $4.5 trillion.
43 million investors trust Fidelity.
Yesterday, Fidelity released a new study explaining why investors should consider bitcoin. Here are 10 key points. »

Fidelity confirms that bitcoin sports unique properties that set it apart from other cryptocurrencies and traditional financial assets:

“The invention of the wheel represented an entirely new technology that, once invented, could not be reinvented. Likewise, never in the history of humanity had the problem of P2P digital currency been solved before bitcoin. »

“Investors should have two distinct frameworks when considering investing in digital assets. The first focuses on bitcoin as an emerging monetary good. The second focuses on other digital assets with properties similar to those of venture capital. »

“The TCP/IP protocol suite is an open source base layer of the Internet. Owning BTC is similar to owning the base layer of the internet. »

Above all, the report suggests that bitcoin could become the main global store of value, rivaling traditional currencies like the dollar:

“Bitcoin’s first technological breakthrough is not to be a superior payment technology, but a superior form of money. As a monetary asset, bitcoin is unique. »

We could simply replace “monetary good” by currency, but this would probably wrongly put bitcoin in the same category as fiat currency. The latter is different in that it greatly facilitates the tool of debt, for better and for worse…

Fidelity and BlackRock, two of the world’s largest investment funds, have embraced bitcoin. They both see it as the international reserve currency of the future.
