BitBoy Crypto Misses Court Appearance Over Harassment

Ben Armstrong, still known as “BitBoy Crypto” had been summoned to court to respond to lawyer’s harassment complaint which involves several influencers. He missed his appearance ordered by a federal justice of the peace and mocked her by posting pictures of him at the beach.

Cointelegraph announcing on Twitter that a YouTuber called BitBoy Crypto missed a hearing by mocking the judge who is likely to sign a warrant for his arrest.

An arrest warrant for BitBoy Crypto?

Ben Armstrong and his attorney were scheduled to appear before Judge Melissa Damian on April 20 to answer the charge of “YouTuber harassment of plaintiffs’ attorney.” But Armstrong deliberately missed the appointment. He even openly mocked the judge on social media by posting photos of him on a beach in the Bahamas on Twitter.

Armstrong’s lawyer was present to him. According CointelegraphJudge Damian would have warned him that she would issue an arrest warrant for BitBoy Crypto if he did not appear by April 24. We also learn that the judge would have traced the case of harassment against Armstrong at the level of the FBI.

What do we blame Ben Armstrong for?

Some victims of the FTX collapse filed a class action lawsuit against BitBoy Crypto and several other Youtubers in March. They accuse them of having promoted a fraudulent exchange without explicitly mentioning that they were receiving remuneration. Moskowitz is the lead attorney representing plaintiffs in this case. According to him, Armstrong had harassed the legal team with ” endless phone calls, tweets and emails“, voice messages “full of vulgarities” as well as social media posts with thinly veiled threats.

While the legal proceedings were underway on April 20, Bitcoin Crypto continued to mock Moskowitz and the whole affair. Besides, he implied that his absence was advice from his lawyer. The latter would also have advised him to appear before the judge in May.

In the meantime, according to the judge’s order dated April 20, Armstrong would no longer be allowed to tweet about Moskowitz and the plaintiffs in the case. He offered no respite from opposing counsel calling him a pig and an ambulance chaser. But is this a profitable strategy, especially since the case is now entrusted to the FBI?
