SafePal is not new to the market of “cold wallets” (cold storage) to secure your cryptos. He is already 5 years old. Supported by the Binance Labs incubator (in 2018) and the Litecoin Foundation (in 2019), SafePal is a very versatile wallet that integrates NFTs and DeFi. The app and the ingenious extension allow you to carry out all your operations while preserving your private keys. Last but not least: the quality/price ratio is unbeatable. Even if Ledger remains undoubtedly the best known player in the hardware wallet market, the competition offers very interesting products. Price, ergonomics and different features, everyone should be able to find what they are looking for.
Aesthetics and accessories
With its bank card format (thicker), the SafePal wallet is rather aesthetic. It comes with a Type C data cable, cards to write down the words in the wallet and a small microfiber cloth to erase your fingerprints. To protect your crypto wallet, you can also get a small leather case and to keep your private keys a metal wallet, called Cypher. A tutorial Safe Pal is available on YouTube to use Cypher well (We will come back to this). Like most wallets, the SafePal does not come with a manual: everything is very intuitive. THE manual is however available on the manufacturer’s website and the after-sales service can help you if necessary.
Connection and connectivity
The SafePal has a camera that facilitates transactions and the interconnection between the extension, the app and the physical wallet : scanning the QR-codes directly is easy and very comfortable. A color screen allows navigation in the menu. The SafePal is isolated from the network: it has no wired, wifi or Bluetooth connection. The supplied USB cable is only useful for updates and for recharging the battery. If you lose your original cable, use a data cable (and not a simple charger). Be careful with pockmarked cables (yes yes it exists).
Create as many wallets as needed
As with all non-custodial wallets (i.e. those for which you have the private keys), you can create a new wallet (SafePal offers to create one with 12, 18 or 24 words) or restore an existing wallet using recovery words. You can create many wallets by generating many sub-accounts with the same seed.
We can never repeat it enough, these words are to be noted carefully, because they are the ones that allow you to restore your wallet on any device using BIP39. Indeed, a hardware wallet (or cold wallet) does not contain cryptocurrencies, it secures your private keys. Itself protected by a PIN code, it will be blocked in the event of intrusion attempts.
Detailed features
Hard to find so many features for such a price. While keeping your private keys safe, the app and extension browser will let you do just about anything (crypto) you want. We make a short list for you:
- You can interact with a fifty blockchains on the app and 35 on extension (and updates make it possible to include new ones regularly). Whether they are EVM or non-EVM (for info Metamask interacts with EVM chains only).

- Integrating several wallets within the app is very easy.
- Choice of fee amount : by clicking on the hexagonal icon at the top left of the app, you can choose “low, medium or high”.
- Two partners (KYC) to buy cryptos: Binance connect And MoonPay. (from app or extension).
- The extension works with browsers Chrome, Firefox, Brave and Chromium Edge.
- Simple import of your pre-existing wallets on Metamask or elsewhere.
- Swap interface built into the extension.
- Purchase of gas for sending small amounts of tokens.
- Simple extension reset (if you forget your password) using your recovery words.
- Reactive support in French.
Safety tips
- You must buy your equipment on the site of the maker or a recognized partner: even if you can reset the hardware wallet easily, be careful not to buy second-hand equipment. Upon receipt, your package must be sealed with the original holograms.
- Avoid clicking on Google ads: paid ads are sometimes scams. If you click too fast, you could land on a mirror site and download a rogue app. SafePal and major wallets still detect malicious apps.
- Use an original data cable for updates and battery charging.

Which wallet for which needs?
Choosing a physical wallet for your bitcoins (BTC) and your cryptos depends above all on your needs (indeed the well-known and recognized brands all offer ultra-secure products). Are you going to do a lot of transactions? Getting started with DeFi? Do staking? After evaluating your needs comes the price and the design. If you only plan to do DCA, a hardware wallet will allow you to create your wallet (and therefore one or more receiving addresses). You will then have to look into metal wallets like Cypher and find a hiding place (beware of burglars who sometimes have metal detectors).
