XRP: Transfers to platforms have doubled since August
Summarize this article with:

More than 6 billion XRP were deposited on exchanges in the thirty days leading up to October 19. This seven-month record signals a strong recovery in transfers, but it does not prove that holders have sold their tokens.

The scene illustrates the doubling of XRP transfers to exchanges since August. On the left, a gigantic whale symbolizes large cryptocurrency holders, while a wallet overflowing with XRP coins represents their reserves. In the center, a spectacular flow of tokens is heading towards several exchanges, suggesting the intensification of deposits. The x2 symbol and the upward arrow highlight this increase. The calendar recalls the point of comparison in August. The orange lights accentuate the magnitude of the movement. The whole thing suggests potential selling pressure, without asserting that all of these XRP will actually be sold.

In brief

  • More than 6 billion XRP were deposited on exchange platforms in thirty days, a record for seven months.
  • Deposits have doubled since mid-August, with Binance accounting for nearly 41% of inflows.
  • Whale removals have fallen 98.6% since February 2025, a sign of a slowdown in their activity.
  • This increase in deposits could increase selling pressure, without necessarily confirming massive sales.
  • The price of XRP is moving around $1.30, a determining threshold for the rest of the market.

XRP deposits double since mid-August

Cumulative inflows of XRP on centralized platforms reached 6.05 billion tokens over thirty days, according to data from CryptoQuant. This is the highest level since March 2026 and a doubling of the volume seen in mid-August.

This acceleration accompanied a strong variation in the market. XRP rose from around $1 to a high near $1.70, before returning to around $1.30. The main indicators describe now a contrasting situation:

  • Deposits reached 6.05 billion XRP in thirty days;
  • This volume represents a seven-month high;
  • Binance received approximately 2.46 billion XRP;
  • Entries have doubled since mid-August;
  • The price has lost nearly 24% since its peak at $1.70;
  • Withdrawals attributed to whales fell to their lowest level since October 2021.

Binance accounts for around 40.7% of deposits recorded over the period. Bybit received almost 580 million XRP, compared to 557 million for OKX and 544 million for Upbit. Bitget recorded approximately 285 million additional tokens.

These movements increase the amount of XRP available in the platform environment. They can facilitate transactions and strengthen short-term liquidity. They can also precede sales when investors transfer their assets from private wallets.

This second interpretation, however, remains uncertain. A deposit does not necessarily correspond to a sell order. Tokens can circulate between platforms, custody services and market makers, or serve as collateral for financial products.

Whales sharply reduce their withdrawals

Another indicator from CryptoQuant shows a decline in the activity of large holders. The 90-day moving average of XRP withdrawals attributed to whales is down to $49.7 million. This level has not been observed since October 2021.

This average had reached around $3.5 billion in February 2025, shortly after XRP rose to around $3.40. It has therefore fallen by 98.6% since this peak.

CryptoQuant estimated that XRP “attracts less and less attention” major investors. Whales could wait for a more favorable price before increasing their exposure. The platform adds that XRP risks lacking long-term buying volume if their support does not return.

The drop in withdrawals does not, however, demonstrate that all whales are selling. Above all, it means that large transfers from platforms to external wallets are becoming rarer. However, these outflows are often interpreted as a sign of accumulation, because the tokens become less immediately available for sale.

The market thus displays two signals which can strengthen each other. Deposits are increasing, while withdrawals from large holders are decreasing. This combination could create more supply available on the platforms if it continues.

The $1.30 threshold remains decisive

XRP is trading in a narrow zone after its summer rebound. Its return to around $1.30 reflects a fragile balance between buyers who defend this level and holders who take advantage of recoveries to transfer their tokens.

US ETF flows provide little additional support. After thirteen consecutive weeks of inflows, these products would have seen approximately $1.84 million in net outflows over a week. Monthly admissions in October also remain well below those in September.

This institutional slowdown is not enough to announce a new decline. XRP has already shown some resistance during the 2026 bear market. The price will mainly depend on the actual destination of the 6.05 billion tokens transferred and the possible return of large buyers.

A stabilization of the XRP price above $1.30, accompanied by a drop in deposits, would reduce the risk of selling pressure. Conversely, a breach of this threshold with continued high inflows could signal that more tokens are coming to market as whale demand wanes.
