Strategy purchased 950 BTC for $75.7 million, ending a two-week hiatus. Michael Saylor’s company also bought back $174 million worth of its favorite STRC shares, and for its part, Strive, made essentially the same bet on Bitcoin the same week.

In brief
- Strategy brings its treasury to 846,000 BTC after buying at $79,670 per unit on average.
- Strategy also spent $174 million to buy back its STRC shares.
- Strive bought 1,355 BTC at almost the same price, while Bitcoin once again becomes the 10th largest asset in the world.
Strategy resumes massive bitcoin purchases
After two weeks of delay, Strategy is relaunching its bitcoin purchases. According to Form 8-K filed with the SEC on Monday, Michael Saylor’s company acquired 950 BTC for $75.7 million, at an average price of $79,670 per token. Strategy’s treasury then climbs to 846,000 BTC, or approximately $63.8 billion in total at an average cost of $75,416 per bitcoin. With bitcoin trading at $84,925 at the time of publication, the company’s latent capital gain is around $8.05 billion.

But Strategy isn’t just accumulating bitcoin because it also spent $174 million buying back 1.77 million STRC shares. Enough to reassure investors about its ability to manage its commitments while it continues to buy BTC. It still has $875.1 million available from this buyback program, and $1 billion from that devoted to MSTR stock. The only downside is that Strategy’s cash position fell by almost 20% in one week, from $1.30 billion to $1.05 billion.
Strive buys BTC at almost the same price as Strategy
Strategy is not alone on this because Strive, the world’s fifth largest holder of bitcoins among listed companies, announced the same day that it had added 1,355 BTC to its treasury. This, for $107.7 million at an average price paid of $79,475 per BTC. Compare this figure to that of Strategy which is 79,670 dollarsthere is just a difference of 195 dollars. At this level of precision, it almost looks like the two companies passed the word around before hitting the BTC buy button.
Strive thus brings its total to 26,355 BTC, and its action climbed 6.44% to $32.03. Part of the financing for these BTC purchases comes from the exercise of warrants which generated $21.2 million in liquidity last week. Including these amounts, 57.7% of the total capital raised by Strive therefore comes from its SATA program. The company then doesn’t just buy bitcoin, it actively structures its financing to continue doing so.
Why is everyone snapping up bitcoin right now?
Here’s the info that puts it all into perspective. According to a ranking of the largest global assets by capitalization, published in September 2026, bitcoin has just regained its place as the 10th global asset, with a total value of $1,712 billion. Tenth behind gold (30,567 billion), Nvidia (5,367 billion), Apple, Alphabet, silver, Microsoft, Amazon, TSMC, and even SpaceX (2,012 billion). Bitcoin brings up the rear of the top 10.

So yes, it is a strong symbol for the defenders of “hard money”. But it also puts things in their place because while Strategy is emptying its treasury and Strive is structuring complicated financing to scrounge up a few hundred million dollars of bitcoins, gold alone weighs seventeen times more than the entire bitcoin market. The race for accumulation is making a lot of noise. The real weight still remains far behind traditional assets.
What to remember from the new massive purchase of BTC by Strategy
- Strategy purchased 950 BTC for $75.7 million, bringing its total hoard to 846,000 bitcoins.
- Strategy also bought back $174 million worth of STRC shares while seeing its cash flow decline by 20%.
- Strive purchased 1,355 BTC at almost the same price as Strategy, relying in part on the exercise of warrants.
- Bitcoin remains last in the world’s top 10 assets by capitalization, far behind gold.
Two companies, two treasuries but only one reflex, buy bitcoin. Strategy and Strive advance almost in mirror image, right down to the average price paid per BTC coin. But the ranking of the largest global assets reminds us of one thing, even at this rate of accumulation, bitcoin remains a featherweight compared to gold or the behemoths of global tech. The race continues but the podium will have to wait a little longer.
