The number is impressive, but it is an estimate. 92,272 people hold at least $1 million in Bitcoin, according to the Crypto Wealth Report 2026 from Henley & Partners. In total, the firm identifies 135,694 digital asset millionaires. Bitcoin therefore represents almost 68% of this group. The calculation is stopped on August 31, 2026, when BTC still remained around 38% below its October 2025 record.

In brief
- Henley & Partners estimates that there are 92,272 Bitcoin millionaires.
- The report lists 135,694 crypto millionaires, 290 centi-millionaires and 23 billionaires.
- Around 371 million people around the world hold Bitcoin today.
Bitcoin represents 92,272 millionaires out of a total of 135,694
The first clarification is important: Henley & Partners did not just count portfolios with more than a million dollars. As of August 31, 12.82 BTC was enough to cross the $1 million threshold used by the study. The blockchain then had 123,222 addresses above this value. But a Bitcoin address does not necessarily correspond to a person. Indeed, an investor can distribute his BTC across several portfolios. A single exchange address can, conversely, represent the assets of thousands of customers.
Henley therefore corrects the on-chain data to remove addresses assigned to exchanges and funds, bitcoins considered lost and duplicates linked to the same owner. The firm has approximately 61,272 direct holders.
It then adds millionaire investors exposed solely through ETFs to reach 92,272 people. The published statistical range is wide: 74,000 to 114,000. In other words, 92,272 is not a nominal census. This is the central estimate of the report.
151 Bitcoin fortunes would exceed $100 million
Higher up in the pyramid, numbers shrink quickly. Henley estimates that 290 people own at least $100 million in digital assets. Among them, 151 would cross this threshold solely with their bitcoin holdings.
There would then be 23 crypto billionaires left in the world. Nine would be billionaires thanks to Bitcoin, with an estimated range between 7 and 14. Bitcoins held by companies like Strategy are not counted as personal wealth.
The entire market was worth around $2.62 trillion as of August 31, with Bitcoin accounting for $1.56 trillion. Once stablecoins were removed from the calculation, BTC represented 68% of the market value retained by Henley. It is also this ratio which is partly used to estimate the total number of crypto millionaires.
These fortunes were measured when Bitcoin was far from its peak. BTC had surpassed $126,000 in October 2025. At the end of August 2026, its value remained approximately 38% lower.
The report also avoids a direct comparison with its previous edition. Its methodology changed in 2026. Henley therefore specifies that it does not publish any annual change in the number of millionaires. To say that this group grew by X% in one year would be misleading.
371 million people hold Bitcoin
Millionaires remain a small fraction of the market. Henley estimates there are 742 million digital asset holders worldwide. Half, or around 371 million people, are said to own Bitcoin. To arrive at this figure, the firm is based in particular on the growth of 4.9% in the number of Bitcoin addresses supplied between August 2025 and August 2026.
The heritage created around BTC is also starting to interest private management more. Many professionals anticipate an increase in exposure to digital assets, and wealth managers are already preparing new allocations.
Finally, we must place the 92,272 millionaires within their margin of error. Fortunes held in private wallets do not come with a name, passport and bank statement. ETFs further complicate the calculation.
Henley therefore offers 92,272 as a central estimate, not an exact counter. The figure nevertheless remains telling: even with Bitcoin still well below its 2025 peak, several tens of thousands of people today hold a seven-figure fortune directly or indirectly linked to BTC.
