Europe had no shortage of conferences on artificial intelligence. What it lacked, according to AI Summit Barcelona organizers, was a place where the people who build AI come with what they’ve already done, not what they promise to do. On September 22 and 23, 2026, the World Trade Center in Barcelona, on the seafront, will host the second edition of this summit which aims to be the European stage for applied AI. And the jump in scale is spectacular: around 1,500 participants last year, more than 10,000 expected this year.

From 1,500 to 10,000 participants in one year
The first edition, in September 2025, served as a proof of concept. The second changes dimension. The organizer, AI Events Barcelona, targets more than 10,000 founders, developers, researchers, investors and decision-makers, spread over two days, ten stages and seven thematic routes: AI for Builders, AI Foundations, AI for Growth, AI for Good and Impact, among others. A figure to be handled with caution: these 10,000 are the objective, not yet achieved, and it is the attendance observed on site which will decide. The leap in ambition is real.
The common thread is a formula, AI in action, and it structures the entire program: live product demonstrations, practical workshops, real use cases in production, rather than prospective panels. Guillaume Rostand, CEO of AI Events Barcelona, summarizes the intention: AI must come out of theory, be deployed, tested and understood in real environments. It’s also a way to stand out from the big futuristic crowds in the sector.
A board that builds the AI rather than commenting on it
The casting sets the tone. The organizer announces more than 200 speakers from NVIDIA, Anthropic, Microsoft, Google, AWS, SAP, Databricks and Hugging Face, a good part of the infrastructure that powers global AI. Among the headliners, Chema Alonso, vice president and head of international growth at Cloudflare, is among the confirmed speakers, as is Martin C. Syms, managing director and global head of the Aladdin engineering group at BlackRock, the platform that manages the risk of a considerable portion of the world’s financial assets. The organizer also announces, as headliner, one of the creators of the Siri assistant.
This mix of cloud giants, AI laboratories, institutional finance and start-up founders creates an event designed for practitioners. An Experience Village and a Workshop Village extend the scenes, with the idea that we leave Barcelona with something concrete, a method, a contact, a prototype, rather than a pile of slides.
The bridge with Web3: the question of agents
What is a crypto media outlet doing at a summit dedicated to artificial intelligence? The answer lies in a word that has become central to both sides: agents. The official hackathon of the summit, second edition of HackBarna, focuses precisely on agent-oriented architectures, the same terrain as the autonomous on-chain agents that are shaking up the Web3 ecosystem. Agentic payments, oracles, automated execution: applied AI and decentralized infrastructure are converging, and this is often where the most new uses emerge.
For a crypto reader, the AI Summit Barcelona is therefore not off topic. It is a privileged observation point on the way in which large technology companies approach agent-based automation, a project that Web3 is exploring in parallel with its own tools. The two worlds don’t quite speak the same language yet, but they are starting to cross paths, and Barcelona is one of the few places where they physically meet.
Barcelona, European laboratory, and a French-speaking anchor
The summit does not live in isolation. It spearheads AI Week Barcelona, from September 18 to 27, a week of around fifty satellite events scattered around the city, from meetups to investor evenings. For several years, the Catalan city has cultivated a reputation as a European tech laboratory, supported by a dense ecosystem of start-ups and talents.
For the French-speaking community, a relay exists on site: French Tech Barcelona, whose president is none other than Guillaume Rostand, is a community partner of the event. The structure mobilizes French-speaking founders, product teams and investors based in the city, and co-organized the launch of the summit at Norrsken House in February 2026. Enough to facilitate connections for a visitor from France or elsewhere in French-speaking Europe.
Practical information and access
The AI Summit Barcelona 2026 will be held on September 22 and 23, 2026 at the World Trade Center Barcelona, on the Moll de Barcelona, by the sea. Three pass options, all valid for both days, are offered: Silver, Gold and Platinum. Prices start at around 375 euros, and the organizer insists on a rare point, the price displayed is the price paid, VAT included, with no additional payment. The Platinum, around 1,330 euros, is a networking pass, with lounge speakers, VIP inauguration ceremony and curated connections; the organizer honestly states that if you come alone and for the content alone, Silver is enough. Prices go up as the date approaches.
Tremplin.io is media partner of the 2026 edition: the code CTBN15 gives -15% on the pass, to be entered on the official ticket office. Travel and accommodation in Barcelona remain the responsibility of participants, and AI Week events are open to all.
There remains the question that the event implicitly poses: can a summit which focuses everything on demonstration rather than on foresight establish itself, in two editions, as the European benchmark for applied AI? The answer will be played out on September 22 and 23, on the Barcelona seafront, between a demo that works and a room that believes in it.
