Bitcoin and Ethereum recognized for investor visas in Hong Kong

Hong Kong continues to strengthen its position as a major hub of cryptos. Local authorities have recently confirmed that Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) can now be used to prove the richness of investors requesting an investment visa. This decision marks a significant advance in the integration of cryptocurrencies in the regulatory and financial framework of the region.

Hong Kong recognizes Bitcoin and Ethereum as proof of wealth!

Until now, candidates for an investment visa in Hong Kong had to prove their fortune through traditional assets such as liquidity, actions or real estate. With this new measure, Crypto investors will be able to include their BTC and ETH assets as proof of wealth.

Hong Kong said that investors wishing to obtain an investment visa, must justify a heritage of at least $ 30 million Hong Kong (around 3.8 million US dollars). In addition, these digital assets will have to be held on regulated platforms or in the custody of approved providers in order to guarantee their legitimacy and traceability. This measure aims to avoid the risk of money laundering and fraud.

Hong Kong, a real crypto hub?

This decision is part of Hong Kong's desire to attract talents and capital linked to crypto industry. The city seeks to stand out by adopting a more favorable approach to cryptos than other jurisdictions, such as continental China, where cryptocurrencies remain strictly regulated. In addition, Hong Kong wishes to position itself as a hub for crypto and financial innovation, thus strengthening its attractiveness in front of competing centers like Singapore or Dubai. As Ryan Lee, chief analyst at Bitget:

The success of Hong Kong as the first cryptographic hub in Asia depends largely on its regulatory framework, which must balance the protection of investors and the growth of the industry in order to promote innovation and confidence. However, it has to face competitors who evolve more quickly, such as Singapore and Dubai, who have more flexible regulatory systems and wider access to the market.

In addition, this initiative could strengthen institutional demand for Bitcoin and Ethereum, by legitimizing them more as recognized financial assets. If other jurisdictions follow the example of Hong Kong, the influx of capital to these cryptos could accelerate, causing a significant increase, even an explosion of their prices.

The acceptance of Bitcoin and Ethereum as proof of wealth in Hong Kong, therefore sends a strong signal to investors and entrepreneurs in the crypto sector. This advance could encourage other jurisdictions to adopt similar policies, thus facilitating the adoption of digital assets in the global financial system.
