🟠LIVE: NEARCON in Lisbon, the NEAR Foundation crypto event

At the beginning of November, the most important crypto event of the year for the NEAR Foundation is being held in Lisbon with more than 3,000 people present. 4 days, 3 locations in the heart of the Portuguese capital and more than 180 speakers who will share their crypto knowledge and ideas for the future in this event which promises to be grandiose to say the least. Follow the event as if you were there thanks to our team on site!

Day 1: an appetizer

That’s it, the NEARCON crypto event is launched. Nothing very serious on the agenda for this Tuesday, November 7: the day is dedicated to networking and sharing sessions. The setting is good, people are having their first snacks but above all their first points of reference in the large building which will house the conferences of the coming days. An iconic location in the Portuguese capital, as it has a rich history, passing from hand to hand through the ages since the 16th century.

Another notable event this Tuesday is the “Proof of Pizza”, aiming to bring together the crypto community already present around pizza and start building relationships between peers. As you will have understood, the NEAR foundation is working hard for this first day and ensuring a professional welcome for its community in Lisbon.

Opening of the NEARCON Hackathon

To close this day, an evening is organized by NEARWEEK which will take place after the information session about the Hackathon that NEAR is organizing on the occasion of this crypto event. We also learned at this opening session of the Hackathon to what extent the latter is not simply an event within the event, but is one in its own right. Dozens of highly qualified people came from all over the globe to create a solution and pitch it here, in order to potentially win big prizes.

As the team in charge of the NEARCON, the Hackathon is the best way to start something big, or to fail quickly, and to be able to learn from this failure. However, we feel in the atmosphere that failure does not seem to be an option for the participants. The tension is palpable and the hackers are clearly there to fight it out. Who will win this event? Who will win the jackpot? Answer Thursday, since the Hackathon lasts 48 hours.

This Tuesday was therefore quick but quite intense in the meetings, and gave way to 3 full days of conferences, debates and various activities. Thank you for your trust, and our team will see you tomorrow to follow the event live alongside them!

Day 2: Crypto NEARCON Event Begins

The first day of the core crypto event has just started here at the Convento da Beato in Lisbon. The scene for the main stage is being prepared in the background of the first community discussions and meetings. The coffee is flowing freely, surely to properly wake up the participants who, for some, enjoyed the party until very late last night. The event’s volunteer team is hard at work, as are the members of the NEAR Foundation, while behind the scenes Jack Collier’s first talk begins, which will mark the official start of the day.

The conference which honors the start of this crypto event relates directly to a difficult subject: How to improve the user experience, when it comes to the use of cross-chain technology? A talk hosted in particular by Josh Lee, founder of the wallet inter-blockchain Keplr or even Jess Houlgrave, representative of WalletConnect, a company also focused on interoperability. Great speakers to put the public in the swing of the event, and satisfy the experts looking for answers.

Polygon 2.0: How crypto Polygon wants to be a leader in Zero-Knowledge technology

Recently, Polygon announced several pieces of information about their future positioning on Zero-Knowledge technology. The company has shown its desire to become a leader in supporting this solution on a large scale… But how does it want to achieve this objective? This is what Tony Olendo, Relationship Developer at Polygon, came to present during a note at the Block Zero Stage.

The Polygon zkEVM revolution has been discussed for several months now, particularly since the announcement of its integration with Ethereum. However, Polygon crypto plans are much more ambitious than that. Alongside the announcement of their zkEVM, another piece of information a little more neglected by the general public was released. This announcement is that of the Polygon CDK (Chain Development Kit) which appeared during this summer. According to Tony Olendo, this tool is the one that will give Polygon its leading position in the race for the Zero-Knowledge market, which has taken up a lot of space in recent discussions among blockchain enthusiasts. According to him

“This tool will make Polygon a real reference for builders of today and tomorrow who seek to secure the private nature of information.”

Tony Olendo

Despite everything, for direct users, the existence of the new Polygon zero-knowledge rollup is the biggest announcement and innovation to take into account. However, the mission to become an industry leader for Polygon should be done in the background, in particular thanks to this complete kit allowing anyone to build a layer 2 on Ethereum, using Polygon’s zero-knowledge as a basis.

A sensational first appearance: the announcements of Illia Polosukhin, Co-Founder of NEAR

This Wednesday, November 8, important announcements regarding the NEAR Foundation were made. These took place on the occasion of the first appearance of a well-known figure in the NEAR ecosystem: Illia Polosukhin. The co-founder of the foundation appeared on stage to once again explain to the general public his desire for what he calls “The Open Web”. The perfect opportunity to reveal what is happening behind the scenes in preparation for the future. An opportunity above all to explain how, beyond simply having a revolutionary idea, he wishes to implement it.

Obviously, this vision seems to turn towards support for the development of layer 2 on Ethereum, since the Foundation’s two announcements go in this direction.

  • Firstly it describes the arrival of NEAR in the large-scale development of Zero-Knowledge technology alongside Polygon, which as mentioned earlier in this article, aims to be the leader in this new industry.
  • Secondly, he announces the launch of a program to provide data to Ethereum rollups, in order to reduce by 8,000 the costs linked to the publication of this data on Ethereum.

The visionary then marks a sensational entry into NEARCON 2023, and seems to have made an impression through his announcements. He is expected on stage again tomorrow, to talk about the future role of Artificial Intelligence in the NEAR ecosystem, as well as at noon Friday for a “special announcement”. To be continued…
