XProtocol has announced October 30, 2024 as the launch date for its cryptocurrency-powered android phone.
An Entertainment-Focused Ethereum Layer 3 Network Named XProtocol announced the launch of the pre-sale of its XForge smartphone; with 10,000 units available, each priced at $299 USD. The company announced the launch of its phone not long ago and quickly made progress after a successful sale of Xardian nodes aimed at empowering and rewarding communities.
“The first 10,000 units will be priced at US$299 each, with an expected price increase thereafter, as the mobile device will also give away free Xardian nodes to its users, providing the unique opportunity to participate in the DePIN network directly from their phone, earning rewards, airdrops and other cryptocurrency-based incentives,” said Dragonix, a contributor to XProtocol.
The company also recently announced the completion of multiple funding rounds worth $5.2 million. Participants in the rounds included Dragonfly Capital, Coinfund, Razer, Caballeros Capital, MSA, Saison Capital, zVentures, Cogitent Ventures and Zephyrus Capital.
XProtocol's unique value proposition lies in its use of Base superchain (Ethereum L2) technology, as the company operates as an entertainment and gaming Layer 3 blockchain offering scalable infrastructure and a developer-friendly platform for partner projects. It is also compatible with all Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) projects, allowing easy migration for projects and developer tools.
Although the extent is unknown, the company also confirmed the launch of a set of DApps in the phone's app store, making it a gateway for users to easily access web3 apps and tools built on the XProtocol superchain.
The device will feature high-level specifications, optimized for gaming – including an Octa-Core processor, Nano Dual card, 6.67-inch AMOLED display, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
The Xardian nodes offered with the phone aim to help decentralize XProtocol's network, as the company said operators should earn rewards for participating in the network's consensus process. The company also recently locked 20% of its total token supply for node licensees to distribute over the 36 months following the launch of the company's mainnet later this year. Launched earlier last month, XProtocol has already sold over 5,000 nodes publicly.
XProtocol, which is scheduled to launch its mainnet in the fourth quarter of 2024, has a team with several years of experience creating and contributing to industry-leading web3 titles. The company aims to improve blockchain-based gaming by enabling creators to develop, deploy and scale consumer-focused products from the start, covering everything from initial infrastructure to final deployment.
