World Cup AI League: FIFA's new mobile game to conquer the NFT market

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has been nurturing, for several months, the ambition to establish itself on the NFT market. World Cup AI League, its mobile game project, seems to be a step for the organization towards achieving this goal.

A free mobile game, which uses artificial intelligence

FIFA is making further progress with its plans in the Non-Fungible Token (NFT) market. The institution has formalized, Monday, April 3, the launch of World Cup AI League. It is a football strategy mobile game, based on artificial intelligence (AI).

We know that the latter constitutes, with the blockchain and the Internet of Things (IoT), the means of implementing web3.0. From this point of view, this new project seems to materialize FIFA’s commitment to this segment.

According to Aaron McDonald, co-founder of Altered State Machine, the Web3 AI company that developed the game, the ambition is “to bring casual gamers into the world of AI games, into the metaverse.” Therefore, “FIFA’s World Cup AI League” offers all football enthusiasts the special opportunity “to interact with their favorite sport”.

It is precisely for this reason that the game is designed as an expanded iteration of the World Cup prediction game, launched in November 2022. This, with the advantage of allowing the player to play, at the same time, the role of coach and team owner.

The developer of FIFA’s World Cup AI League seems to have also bet on game scalability. For example, the latter does not take into account football stars like Christiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi. The choice is made to rather favor a cartoonish design reminiscent of the popular video game Fall Guys.

With the objective of penetrating the NFT market

This is not the only strategic choice that stakeholders make. Indeed, they have also decided to make the beta version of the game, available for free on Android, while waiting for the iOS version.

It should nevertheless be noted that this project seems to be the prelude to a greater ambition: that of penetrating the NFT market. According to statements from McDonald, there are plans to roll out a collection of NFTs for FIFA’s World Cup AI League. For the moment, this program is put on hold, so as not to disturb the user experience.
