The giant follows in the footsteps of Vodafone, DISH Network and Telefonica

Several major telecom companies invested in blockchain and Web3 before NTT Docomo. There is for example the British giant Vodafone, which signed a similar partnership in 2020. This deal was initialed with the blockchain startup Energy Web (EW). The goal is to optimize the integration of renewable energy assets (wind, solar, etc.).

We also have the American company DISH Network which has decided to collaborate with Cardano in 2021. The goal was to help bring blockchain technology to around 14 million TV subscribers.

Finally, there is the Spanish telecommunications company Telefonica. Since September, she has been working with Bit2Me in order to allow its customers to pay for services in cryptocurrencies. Payments will be in bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH) and USD Coin (USDC).

Through their collaboration, NTT Docomo and Accenture want to accelerate the adoption of Web3 on a global scale. To achieve this objective, Accenture intends to use the expertise acquired in regional development through its various collaborations with players in the new industry.
