The Paris Stock Exchange is struggling to regain momentum, after closing last week on a negative note. Investors remain cautious, while the United States is due to publish its consumer price index for the month of January on Wednesday. In this context, the CAC 40 gained 0.12% to 7,938 points around 4:30 p.m., after having oscillated between 7,923 and 7,953 points. On the foreign exchange market, the euro is stabilizing against the dollar.
Stock market: Contrasted company results
On the stock marketthe corporate results season is in full swing with contrasting publications.
Among the CAC 40 stocks, Accor (+1.43%) benefits from the announcement of a rebound in its activity in the fourth quarter thanks to the resumption of tourism in Asia and the Middle East. The hotel group also confirmed its objective to reduce its fixed costs by 200 million euros in 2021.
Conversely, Atos (-6.56%) is declining after having revised its 2020 objectives downward (due to an audit of two contracts in the United States). The IT services specialist also postponed the publication of its annual accounts, initially scheduled for this Tuesday.
Stock market: Bouygues and GTT in the spotlight, Eurofins disappoints
On the SRD, Bouygues (+5.29%) and GTT (+6.93%) hold the top spot after revealing results above expectations and encouraging prospects.
The first saw its turnover and current operating profit increase in 2020, despite the health crisis. He announced payment of a dividend of 1.70 euros per share.
The second, for its part, recorded a 66% increase in its net profit in 2020. It increased its dividend by 80% to 3.50 euros per share.
At the opposite, Eurofins Scientific (-7.75%) plunges despite record organic growth of 20% in 2020. Investors were disappointed by the level of free cash flow of the bioanalysis group, which was affected by significant investments to cope to demand linked to Covid-19.
The Paris Stock Exchange remains on the defensive, awaiting American inflation figures. These could have an impact on market expectations regarding the FED’s monetary policy.
