The “banana zone”, first stage of a historic crypto bullish cycle
On January 10, 2024, Raoul Pal shared his analysis on social network X, confirming that the crypto market is currently in what he calls the “banana zone”. This phase, initiated by the price break in November 2024, presents striking similarities with the bullish cycle of 2016-2017.
The total capitalization of the crypto market testifies to this dynamic, having jumped 90% in one year to reach 3.4 trillion dollars, after touching a new all-time high of 3.9 trillion in December 2024.
The phenomenon is explained in particular by the increase in the global money supply M2, as Pal underlines based on comparative graphs. This correlation suggests a continuation of the upward trenddespite recent corrections which brought bitcoin back to around $92,000.
A historic “altseason” in perspective
The next stage of this cycle, called the “banana singularity” by Raoul Pal, should be characterized by a generalized explosion of alternative cryptos (altcoins). DeFi researcher 0xNobler shares this optimistic view, predicting a bitcoin rise to $500,000 that would trigger “the biggest altcoin season in history.”
This perspective is based on the analysis of the dominance of bitcoin, currently stable at 58%. Historically, a decline in this indicator signals the start of a favorable period for altcoins. The current consolidation of the market, comparable to that observed in 2016-2017, could therefore precede a phase of massive expansion.
Recent events, including political developments in the United States and increased global liquidity, continue to support this upward trajectory. Despite short-term volatility, crypto market fundamentals have never been stronger, hinting at a new era of explosive growth for the entire ecosystem.
