Terraform Labs co-founder Do Kwon, already entangled in a lawyer prepayment case, now faces a new charge in Montenegro. Local prosecutors accuse him of falsifying personal documents with his finance manager.
A new accusation against the founder of Terraform Labs
About a month ago, authorities apprehended Terraform Labs co-founder Do Kwon and his financier Han Chang-joon at Montenegro’s airport as they tried to leave the country.
Since then, the country had made no statement on their fate. However, this Thursday, March 20, prosecutors in Montenegro filed an indictment against the two men for falsifying personal documents, according to reports from the Montenegrin newspaper Vijesti quoted by Bloomberg.
In an email, the head of the prosecutor’s office in the capital Podgorica, Dusko Milanais, announced that the Montenegrin authorities intended to extend the detention of Kwon and his financier.
When arrested last month, Montenegrin authorities said the two individuals, Do Kwon and Han Chang-joon, entered the territory illegally. According to official statements, the suspects attempted to reach Dubai using falsified documents.
It should be noted that US prosecutors also accuse Kwon of planning to embezzle more than $40 billion in crypto assets.
Likewise, his home country is suing him on similar charges. Recently, proceedings in South Korea even revealed that Kwon planned his company’s downfall by paying his lawyers $7 million in advance.
Do Kwon’s fate regarding his extradition remains uncertain, although the two countries made their request the day after their arrest. His future is also very uncertain, he who has done everything to hide his illegal activities in Serbia.
