Certainly the FTX storm wreaked havoc in the United States, Japan, and even France, but that did not prevent an increase in the adoption rate of cryptos in France. According to a report from the Financial Markets Authority (AMF), the number of local adults investing in cryptocurrencies has relatively increased. Details !
9% of French adults hold cryptos
L’lack of regulatory clarity in the United States would have pushed some players in the crypto industry to flee the country. France, which the current government intends transform into a “crypto hub”has decided to open its doors wide to its American exiles.
There is therefore nothing surprising in the fact that 31% of young French people are in favor of remuneration in cryptocurrenciesas highlighted in the report of an investigation commissioned by Payfit.
Translation of the first paragraph:
“ A recent study by the Financial Markets Authority (AMF) shows that in France, more investors prefer cryptos over stocks and ETFs, indicating a notable change in investment preferences, especially among the population younger, with 9% holding digital currencies compared to 7% in stocks and 2% in ETFs. This change is partly influenced by the impact of the pandemic. »
According to Bitcoin.comthe AMF’s investigations made it possible to identify a significant increase in the number of French people holding crypto-assets. Statistics :
- 24% of French adults admit to having investments in various financial instruments;
- 9% of them hold cryptocurrencies;
- more than 10% of those surveyed are rushing into real estate funds;
- 5.4% in bonds;
- etc.

French population
“ The rate of individual holding of crypto-assets amounts to 9% of the French population. The rate of listed holdings stands at 7%, close to the level estimated by the Kantar institute in March 2023 (See special LOE of July 2023) », we can read in the Newsletter of the AMF Household Savings Observatory.
Another salient point of this report: compared to traditional investors, new people invest less and less in the stock market. 54% of them, or 63% of new investors aged 25 to 34, are interested in the crypto adventure, while traditional investors show a modest rate of 25%.
