Stallone bitcoin (BTC) fan in action series

Sylvester Stallone, converted to bitcoin? In the Paramount+ series Tulsa King, the famous actor plays an old-school mobster who gets introduced to BTC by chance. Meeting between two legends.

When two legends collide

Still active at 75, Sylvester Stallone is not about to hang up his acting career. He currently plays in Tulsa King, a Paramount+ production released in 2022. He plays Dwight alias “The General”, a member of the New York mafia. Released from prison after 25 years behind bars, he was sent by his employers to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Objective: to set up a brand new criminal operation.

It is in episode 7 of season 1 that he meets Bodhi, a younger partner, who reveals to him one of his criminal activities: rob people who buy bitcoin. The hacker also keeps his access to bitcoins on a key that looks a lot like a Ledger.

This scene is thus an amusing way of representing the generational shock experienced by the hero. An appearance that proves theincreasingly strong anchoring of BTC in popular culture. Indeed, it is still an indirect advertisement made to Bitcoin.

“- Do you buy Bitcoin?
– No. I steal from other people who buy Bitcoin »

Bitcoin, again a victim of clichés

However, this short appearance still conveys a quite tenacious cliche about bitcoin : it would be used mainly for criminal activities. Moreover, no details are given on the process that allows the criminal to “steal bitcoins”. However, we can imagine an operation consisting of defrauding the holders by gaining their trust, and thus recovering their private keys. Indeed, a well-secured Bitcoin wallet is deemed inviolable, even if the human fault is always exploitable.

In the series, Dwight (Stallone) is skeptical: he replies to Bodhi that bitcoin is just wind, virtual. The thug then turns his screen to Dwigth, who sees the sum of 1,500,000 dollars in BTC displayed. What arouse the admiration of the criminal: and now Sylvester Stallone begins to buy bitcoins… in a fictitious way, of course. But it remains a great advertisement for the first cryptocurrency.

Should we watch this series of gangsters with Sylvester Stallone? If you’re a fan of testosterone-boosted action series and street brawls, definitely. In any case, there are nice nods to BTC, cryptos and NFTs. A way of remembering that despite his age, Sylvester Stallone remains timeless and always in tune with the times: he even buys bitcoin!
