Ripple and its University Blockchain Research Initiative
UBRI is a funding program initiated by Ripple. It aims to provide support to universities for research and innovation in:
- blockchain,
- cryptocurrencies,
- interoperability,
- other related fields.
Ripple began this program by investing $50 million in universities around the world, including Europe, Asia, and North America. In addition to providing funding, Ripple collaborates with universities to develop academic programs on blockchain technology.
Today, Ripple’s UBRI is a popular program for universities looking to build their expertise in blockchain technology.
UBRI program: Research projects and partnerships are multiplying
THE UBRI program started with 17 universities in 2018. A year later, 11 other institutions joined the initiative. Among these institutions are famous and prestigious universities. These include Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Kansas, the National University of Singapore and Cornell University.
The program continues to expand despite Ripple’s high-profile lawsuit against the SEC. Dispute.
Through UBRI, Ripple is even forging new collaborations. The blockchain reinforces its commitment to the university community. Currently, the initiative has:
- 45 universities in 20 countries,
- over 340 new or expanded fintech courses,
- more than 1020 academic blockchain research projects.
