Recently, Axie Infinity recovered another sizeable portion of the hacked funds, this time thanks to authorities in Norway.
Axie Infinity recovers nearly $5.9 million in lost money
After each hack, the authorities make the necessary efforts to help the victims recover their money. This was the case in Norway, where the police recovered some of the funds stolen from Axie Infinity. Local authorities have recovered the equivalent of $5.85 million stolen during the Axie Infinity Ronin Bridge hack. Indeed, the police seized precisely 60 million Norwegian kroner in cryptos.
The news was announced through a press release issued on February 16. It comes from the Norwegian National Authority for the Investigation and Prosecution of Economic and Environmental Crimes (Okokrim). The organization did not hesitate to follow the trail of digital assets stolen almost a year ago.
Norwegian Attorney General Marianne Bender said : “Okokrim is competent enough to follow the money trail. This case shows that we also have a great ability to track money on the blockchain, even if criminals use advanced methods“, she pointed out.
The result of collaboration between jurisdictions
The Attorney General added that Okokrim worked with two agencies to successfully intercept the money. These are: the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the US Department of Justice. Bender argued, “As a society, we are stronger in the fight against profit-driven digital crime“.
