The "Ordinals" Controversy

Bitcoiners are not unanimous on the idea of associating their favorite blockchain with NFT Ordinals. A staunch bitcoin advocate by the name of indigo_Nakamoto has promised rewards to anyone who can fork the protocol on another network. And it’s done!

Bitcoin NFT Ordinals now on Litecoin

By the time the number of registrations for Ordinals exceeded 150,000, a coder had managed to fork the protocol on the Litecoin network.

The amount of the premium has evolved gradually

CryptoPotato pointed out that a coder chasing a $2,000 bounty promised by a bitcoiner pulled it off. This is Anthony Guerrera.

Last Sunday, this developer successfully forked, with evidence on GitHub supporting. The bonus, which initially was 5 LTC (i.e. $470) then revised to 22 LTC, therefore goes to Guerrera.

He even announced the first listing of NFT Ordinals on Litecoin last Friday. He gave it the name “registration 0”.

0 registration successful on Litecoin

The presentation of the MimbleWimble white paper accompanied this historic victory of the anti-Ordinals of Bitcoin. The latter did not admit the fact that the most secure blockchain in the world could be invaded by images, gifs and videos of all kinds that could slow down Bitcoin.

Litecoin, the only compatible blockchain?

After Bitcoin, NFT Ordinals can only be listed on Litecoin, Guerrera told Decrypt. The reason is that they are intrinsically linked to the SegWiet and Taproot soft forks of Bitcoin.

I was actually motivated by the bounty that Indigo and a few others put out for someone to migrate Ordinals to Litecoin. I contacted Indigo about a week ago to take up the challenge. »

Anthony Guerrera also admitted that there were indeed complications during this fork. Indeed, he encountered dependency problems with rust-bitcoin, which did not support the level MimbleWimble on Litecoin.

Where it all began

Now that pro-Ordinals have another option besides Litecoin at their disposal, Bitcoin advocates are hoping for less data-heavy blocks in the future. Besides, Litecoin is known for its speed in processing transactions. Might as well run to the network.
