NFT holders could soon listen to playlists on Spotify

Spotify is a global streaming platform that currently has over 489 million users. In May 2022, he experimented with NFTs, allowing them to be promoted on his platform. But only a select group of artists, including Steve Aoki and The Wombats, have obtained the necessary permission. Now the platform is testing a new service called Token-enabled playlists.

On Spotify, a playlist service using tokens

Spotify is currently working on a project of playlists accessible from NFT tokens. In fact, only holders of non-fungible tokens will be able to access said service. This will allow users to connect their NFT wallets to listen to playlists. These will be specially prepared for them. Note that Spotify has test the new service for a period of three monthswhere playlists will be actively updated.

The service will be available by specifically connecting certain types of NFT wallets. These are: Metamask, Trust Wallet, Rainbow, Ledger Live and Zerion. In addition, a spokesperson for Spotify said that through this project, the streaming platform seeks to provide the best user experience.

We can listen to playlists on Spotify, thanks to NFTs

He asserted : β€œ We regularly carry out a number of tests with the aim of improving the user experience. Some of them end up paving the way for our broader user experience. Others serve only as important teachings“.

A feature not yet accessible to all

So far, Spotify’s new feature is only accessible only to holders of tokens from the Overlord, Fluf, Kingship and Moonbirds communities. During the test period, playlists will only be available to members of these communities. A unique link will allow them to access it.

Overlord is a universe of Web3 games and media. The team behind the community talked about the new service on Twitter this Wednesday. Clearly, he revealed that the dedicated driver is currently only available for Android users, in certain countries around the world. These are the United States, Germany, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Australia.

Spotify has yet to announce a larger-scale rollout of its new feature. Meanwhile, consumers can enjoy the functions of various existing Web3 music platforms. These aim to decentralize the music listening experience. There is for example the crypto streaming service Audius, which offers AUDIO tokens to users interacting with its platform.
