Since the beginning of 2023, the Bitcoin network has seen a meteoric growth in its activities. Indeed, the introduction of Ordinals and BRC-20 has opened up new perspectives within the blockchain, allowing the emergence of a multitude of shitcoins.

In interview granted to Bloomberg, Sherief pointed out that “these worthless tokens jeopardize the proper functioning of the Bitcoin network as a payment system and store of value.”
Additionally, Sherief emphasizes the importance of resolving this issue to preserve the integrity and usefulness of the Bitcoin blockchain. In an email to Bitcoin’s main developer group, Sherief stresses the urgency of finding a solution to this problem which calls into question the integrity and usefulness of the Bitcoin blockchain.
