This week, MasterCard unveiled its latest advance in artificial intelligence (AI): Shopping Muse, an advisor chatbot dedicated to shopping. Powered by advanced conversational capabilities, this assistant uniquely personalizes product recommendations.
Shopping Muse, an AI that simulates human shopping
The AI race is currently in full swing, with the recent launch of chatbots such as Q by Amazon. It’s MasterCard’s turn to come out of the woods with its own solution called Shopping Muse.
This new generation conversational agent is the work of Dynamic Yield, its subsidiary specializing in IAl. Stated objective: to offer e-retailers the means to provide their customers with tailor-made purchasing recommendations.
According to communicated released on November 30, Shopping Muse leverages cutting-edge technologies such as natural language processing, facilitating seamless interaction with customers online. The assistant is able to understand requests formulated even in familiar language, including the most eccentric ones.
Additionally, the solution also integrates image recognition, allowing retailers to offer similar items based on visual criteria.
“ We leverage technology and machine learning to deliver better results for the brand and the consumer“, declared Raj Seshadri, President of Data and Services at Mastercard.
A decisive innovation for the future of e-commerce
On the retail side, a recent survey, mentioned by MasterCard, reveals a growing enthusiasm for conversational AI. Currently, more than a quarter of retailers already use this type of virtual chatbot. And 13% more plan to take the plunge in 2024.
“ By leveraging the power of generative AI in Shopping Muse, we are meeting consumer expectations in terms of transparency and relevance of recommendations“, said Ori Bauer, CEO of Dynamic Yield. For him, this type of innovation is the key to finally unlocking the full potential of immersive and tailor-made e-commerce.
This thunderous launch of Shopping Muse comes just days after the high-profile presentation of Q, the AI-integrated chatbot developed by Amazon. The battle for generative AI is therefore raging between the tech giants, each seeking to do well in the game.
