In the Web3 gaming space, gas fees have always been one of the biggest barriers to mass adoption. Now this challenge is solved in the Immutable ecosystem. Web3 gaming company, Immutable, has just launched the industry’s first blockchain that offers a Web3 gaming experience with no transaction fees. Called zkVEM Immutable, it is a next-generation upgrade developed in collaboration with Polygon Labs. All the details below.
zkVEM from Immutable: the Web3 innovation that will change everything for gaming
While gas fees help encourage node operators to ensure the security and decentralization of blockchains, they push away players accustomed to traditional games. However, fans of web3 games in the Immutable ecosystem will no longer have to worry about this subject.
Indeed, with the aim of offering frictionless onboarding and a better user experience, Immutable to remove gas fees for web3 games from its ecosystem. The innovation will be operational from the start of 2024.
Web3 game developers will therefore be able to sponsor their players’ gas costs by paying between 500 and 1000 dollars per 100,000 users. Immutable plans to cover these costs for all web3 games in its ecosystem and gradually leave the responsibility to developers.
Immutable redefines the concept of game economy in the Web3 ecosystem
According to Alex Connolly, CTO and co-founder of Immutable, “transaction fees are one of the obstacles to the mass adoption of decentralized games”. He points out that Web3 games subject those familiar with traditional games to constraints that are unfamiliar to them.
For example, they need to make sure they have the native blockchain token in the right wallet. They also have to go to exchanges to convert and ensure they have funds every time they want to play a Web3 game.
Gas fee sponsorship will make the components of blockchain technology native and “provide players with a familiar user experience.” Immutable claims that this system will increase adoption and overall revenue for gaming studios, which far outweighs gas costs. If this innovation comes into effect in early 2024 as planned, the impacts will be felt on the Web3 ecosystem, on the activity of the Ethereum network and even on the adoption of crypto. Maybe now is the time to invest.
