Go behind the scenes of Alyra's blockchain training

About ten days ago, I published a report about the first two weeks of one of the blockchain trainings organized by Alyra. As a reminder, this is a school specializing in the field of blockchain launched in 2018. The training I am currently following is called “Leading an innovative project”, in particular intended for future blockchain consultants. The objective of this paper is to report the progress of the activities, while sharing my feelings. Dive into the heart of weeks 3 and 4 of Alyra’s training.

Alyra Talks

In the article I published on the first two weeks of training, I told you about the famous Alyra talks, these could not be more exciting moments of exchange that we have every Monday with personalities or professionals from the cryptosphere. Weeks 3 and 4 were no exception.

the metaverse

For the talk of week 3, Alyra welcomed Benjamin Coste, Product Owner at The Sandbox, one of the reference projects in the universe of the metaverse, this unique virtual space, full of promise. Sandbox is a domain provider in the metaverse. Domains in the metaverse are like parcels. They exist as NFTs and can be traded. Estate holders can build buildings, games, businesses, recreational spaces, etc. on it. This in order to make their investments profitable.

Benjamin Coste spoke to us about the multitude of opportunities that exist along the blockchain value chain, in this case the metaverse. We discussed features of the metaverse, modus operandi, censorship in this virtual world, etc. This session was enriched by a series of questions and answers, which allowed everyone to better understand the concept. The expert closed his presentation by urging everyone to get started.

Get your hands dirty, take action and try new things. Because what is valued today is what you have done. For those who are afraid of taking the wrong direction along the way, remember that blockchain is an openly assumed crash test and most players in the ecosystem have built themselves with this mentality. So be yourself in crash test mode”he said.

In the heart of Algorand

The Alyra talk for the week of October 17 was hosted by Alexandre G. Huynh Van, Florian Launay, and Stéphane Barroso, all three French-speaking players in the Algorand blockchain. This network strives to build a reliable and easy-to-use space. This by creating smart contracts that speak to as many people as possible.

The facilitators also took advantage of this session to offer learners a guided tour of this ecosystem, which has recently become a FIFA partner for the football world cup which will take place in a few weeks.

What happened in the last two weeks of class?

After having studied the concept of value applied to public blockchains, we deepened the study of these. This time, we discussed the reasons why blockchains emerged.

There are two distinct reasons that contributed to the birth of the blockchain:

  • The internet centralization (which explains the need for decentralization). Here, it was a question of explaining that, in its quintessence, the blockchain is part of a logic of rupture with the centralized functioning of the Internet, and therefore of the digital economy. To materialize this break, it will be necessary to understand differently the relationship of users to the object, which is trivialized because of its physical reproducibility (copies and counterfeits). Gold, “with the blockchain, the relationship to the object is no longer singular, but standardized”. This rupture must also materialize in the way of approaching consumption on the Internet, the notion of property and value.
  • The second reason is related to data market, it brings together all the issues related to leaks, hacking, but above all the idea that data is a vital commodity for industry players, to the detriment of users. These issues are crucial today. Unfortunately, it has become very easy to find on the dark web private information that is supposed to be safe from internet service providers, such as social networks. At this level, the course offers the alternatives provided by the blockchain for more efficient and innovative data management.

Finally, we dove into the spirit and attributes of the blockchain, in this case Bitcoin. Here, it was discussed to address the genesis of crypto, how bitcoin lays the foundation for the blossoming of the rest of the ecosystem. We also touched on the early projects that paved the way for bitcoin. Most of these projects being related to Cypherpunks, we tried to understand their motivations.

To conclude

At this stage of my journey at Alyra, my opinion remains more or less the same. The training is of high quality and I am learning a lot. The only negative note remains the density of the lessons given: too much information to digest in a very short time!

Indeed, 3 months seem to me to be decidedly insufficient for such a training, given that it is only intended for professionals. 5 or 6 months would have been perfect. I hope the Alyra team sees things the same way and maybe give more time to future promotions.
