After the decline in the number of Solana validators observed in recent years, their geographic location now sheds another light on the structure of the network. On July 22, 2026, Glassnode reported that Europe produced 67% of the blocks during the then-current era.

Market makers, infrastructure operators, decentralized platforms and some traders are looking to accelerate the propagation of their transactions. A location closer to leaders can then improve the regularity of connections and limit routing delays.

The tool thus transforms the geography of validators into usable data to choose the location of a server or adjust RPC routing.

Regional domination which is not enough to prove centralization

European concentration describes the current era, but it does not in itself demonstrate a takeover of the network. On Solana, the leader calendar changes over time and depends in particular on the stake.

Geographic distribution can therefore vary without ownership of validators or governance shifting to a single region. The nuance remains important. An indicator of 68.5% reveals a high operational concentration at any given time.

However, it does not make it possible to identify the owners of the nodes, their economic independence or the diversity of their hosting providers. We must cross-reference these elements before drawing a conclusion on the decentralization of Solana.

The data nevertheless highlights the role of the major European centers. Frankfurt, Amsterdam and London combined for 59.3% of the leading slots displayed by Glassnode on July 23. This concentration can guide operators’ location choices, but it also invites the ecosystem to follow its persistence from one era to another.

For developers and institutions, the main lesson remains practical. The performance of an application does not only depend on the protocol or the fees. It also depends on the quality of routing, the distance from active validators and the capacity of the infrastructure to adapt to the movement of leaders.

In sum, Glassnode’s figures place Europe at Solana’s operational center for the observed era, with Frankfurt in the lead. Future leader rotation, stake evolution and geographic diversification will tell if this advantage takes hold. At the same time, the rise of tokenized assets on Solana increases requirements for network reliability and puts infrastructure at the forefront.
