The crypto market is going through a fragile phase, marked by persistent selling pressure on Ether. In this context, Ethereum is attracting the attention of analysts, as several technical signals indicate a risk of a short-term pullback. Traders are especially watching the $1,800 area, considered a key support. If this threshold does not hold, the dynamics could deteriorate further.

In brief
- Bearish forecasts on Ethereum are confirmed, with the price remaining under pressure.
- The high leverage ratio and positive funding rates show the dominance of long positions.
- The RSI near the oversold zone indicates weakening price momentum.
- Capital outflows from Ethereum ETFs signal growing institutional disinterest.
- The critical support zone at $1,750 to $1,800 will determine the next direction of the market.
Ethereum under pressure in the face of fragile technical indicators
Bearish forecasts on Ethereum are increasingly confirmed. Price indicators show that downside risk remains present. According to PelinayPA, analyst at CryptoQuant, Ethereum is operating in a weakening price structure. It is based on several key indicators in his analysis:
- Estimated leverage ratio: 0.74, a level considered relatively high;
- Funding rate: mostly positive since mid-April, which indicates the dominance of long positions;
- RSI (Relative Strength Index): close to the oversold zone around 31, with no clear signal of recovery.
This configuration shows that, despite the presence of buyers, the price is struggling to progress. Under stronger conditions, an increase in leverage would generally be accompanied by a net increase in prices. Here, the market shows the opposite: leverage remains high while floors continue to fall. This divergence confirms that short-term dynamics remain dominated by selling pressure.
Bearish pressure and the derivatives market: a fragile balance
The bearish pressure is also seen in the behavior of volumes. Analyst Amr Taha underlines, in a QuickTake notes“ that the accumulation of leverage occurred at the same time as strong selling activity “. Cumulative net trading volume on Binance fell around -$744 million. This is the most marked negative level since April 6, 2026.
This signal shows that new levers entered the market while sellers maintained the advantage. Therefore, the situation appears more fragile than a simple increase in open positions. In this context, Ethereum depends more on positioning on derivative products than on real spot demand.
The decline in demand is also showing up in US-based spot ETFs. These products recorded thirteen consecutive days of capital outflows, totaling $695 million. On Thursday, net outflows reached $121 million, the largest withdrawal in two weeks. For Ethereum, this trend signals lower institutional interest in the near term.
Key levels to watch for Ethereum
The loss of support at $2,000 reinforced operators’ caution. In three days, the price of Ether fell by 7%, letting sellers regain control. All eyes are now turning to the demand zone located from $1,700 to $1,800. Several analysts consider this zone as a decisive threshold for the future.
Analyst Suraj Jha estimated “ that an immediate entry point could be around $1,700 to $1,800 “. However, he specifies: that a confirmed break below this level could tip the structure towards a continuation of the decline “.
For its part, Crypto Patel judges the technical structure of Ether to be bearish as long as the price does not return above $3,050.
Furthermore, he adds “ that the ETH/USD pair must retain the $1,750 threshold to maintain a long-term bullish outlook “. If this level gives way, the market could target an accumulation zone between $1,500 and $1,400. A sharper decline could then bring the price back towards $1,550 and then towards the 2022 macro zone near $1,000.
In the short term, Ethereum therefore remains in a close monitoring phase. Holding the $1,750 to $1,800 zone could limit the current pressure. On the other hand, a clear break below this threshold would reinforce the risk of a new wave of sales. Investors and traders will need to quickly confirm whether ETH support holds or whether the market extends its downward trajectory, which could result in a significant pullback to the lower levels discussed.
