Ethan Buchman’s take on the Cosmos Hub white paper

Bringing a new vision to the Cosmos Hub white paper

According to Ethan Buchman, the document tries to revolve around a new and integrated vision and direction for Cosmos Hub. This vision is then based on three main principles, the first of which is cross-chain security and liquid staking. These provide a secure cost-effective scaling layer. The second principle is that the ecosystem growth engine can be built on top of the economic scaling layer. The latter is secured through the interaction of Hub-specific applications that extend and serve the growing number of IBC-enabled channels. Finally, the new vision is based on a new, more sophisticated governance and treasury system. It will help oversee development and facilitate better on-line coordination.

The Cosmos co-founder and CEO of Informal Inc. stressed that the document should be understood more as an offer to explore rather than a commitment. It is indeed a document proposed as a coherent whole, that is to say a document of vision. The community should then have the ability to vote while retaining significant discretion over the details. The goal is not to change the features of the Hub Cosmos according to his opinion, because the votes on the features are still to come.

Necessary changes in political and economic structures

What the team is trying to do is kick off a material upgrade in the way the political economy is coordinated and organized. In his opinion, Buchman asserted that this necessarily involves significant changes in the political and economic structures of Cosmos Hub. He believes that we must learn to master these changes if they are to survive as a long-term project. That will take time. However, that doesn’t mean “we can’t start and keep going,” he said.

He also touched on the show changes, which sparked the most discussion. Indeed, the white paper argues for the need for two changes in emissions. The first being the reduction of long-term issues for stakers. Then, the second relates to the increase in short-term issues intended for cash. According to Ethan Buchman’s opinion, issuance for Cosmos Hub stakers should not decrease. That, until revenue and adoption of liquid staking picks up.

He thus wrote proposals for solutions through the Cosmos Hub discussion forum.
