According to a study by real estate data company Clever, however, a recession is almost inevitable in the United States in 2023. 69% believe that the United States is already in the midst of a recession. 55% fear losing everything if the recession really hits the United States.
US economy: Everything seems to point to a recession

A study carried out by Clever shows that Americans have a bleak economic outlook. Many believe that a recession is inevitable in the United States. In concrete terms, two out of three Americans believe that the war between Ukraine and Russia will impact the American economy. The same is true for Covid-19.
Regarding the possible fall of the financial market, opinions differ:
- 38% believe that the stock market will be the first victim of the recession in the United States. They expect a stock market crash this year.
- For 33%, the crypto market will also suffer from the economic crisis. They even think that this market is in danger of collapsing this year.
- 28% fear an exponential fall in the labor market.
- 27% expect the housing market to fall.
The economic crisis will get worse
For most respondents, the economic crisis in the United States will get even worse. Inevitably, it will have direct impacts on daily life.
77% believe the cost of goods and services will continue to rise. 70% of Americans already struggle to afford basic commodities. Some are even afraid of having to go into debt to cope with the inevitable price inflation.
For many, the US economy is doing badly. Liberals and conservatives alike think the government should take drastic action quickly.
