A new forum entirely dedicated to bitcoin (BTC) will be held on December 2 and 3 in Dakar. International in scope, its ambition is to develop the bitcoin ecosystem in Senegal.
It will be a completely free event that will target the public, private, academic sectors, and the local and sub-regional population. It will be held at the Grand Théâtre National Doudou Ndiaye Coumba Rose in Dakar.
According to the organizers, the objectives are as follows:
- Organize panels on topics that revolve around bitcoin (economy, finance, security, cryptography, mining, geopolitics, hardware, programming, sustainable development, philosophy)…
- Organize a hackathon to find solutions to known and unknown problems that can be solved by bitcoin.
- Present startups and other companies that are developing solutions around bitcoin.
- Bring together the actors of the Senegalese and global ecosystem.
- To introduce the world to the Senegalese and French-speaking bitcoin ecosystem.
The long term objectives are:
- Highlight the technological and cryptographic aspects of bitcoin.
- Demystifying prejudices about bitcoin in French-speaking Africa.
- Federate local and regional players in the bitcoin ecosystem.
- Hatch startups that revolve around bitcoin.
- Make Senegal a leading destination for bitcoin events around the world.
To achieve these objectives, the organizers called on many speakers from the Senegalese crypto ecosystem such as Mouhammad Dieng (WhatsApp SenBlock group), Babacar Lô (Bitcoin Evangelist) or Bineta Ngom. There will also be several international speakers such as Saifedean Ammous (author of “The Bitcoin Standard”), Joseph Hall as well as Sébastien Gouspillou and Emmanuel Harrault. In total, more than twenty specialists will come to discuss this fascinating subject.
