Bitcoin (BTC), the most dynamic asset in the crypto market, will soon land. This will be done as part of a space expedition involving BitMEX, the crypto platform co-founded by famous crypto investor Arthur Hayes. The initiative is in itself absolutely unique.
A physical bitcoin (BTC) will be sent to the moon soon!
The crypto exchange platform BitMEX will potentially write its name in the annals of the history of cryptocurrency and bitcoin (BTC) in particular. As part of a collaboration with Astrobotic, Bitcoin Magazine and Oxcart Assembly, the firm will send a physical bitcoin to the Moon.
This unprecedented project aims to highlight the vast potential of the ecosystem around bitcoin, beyond the limits of the Earth. This will be done as part of a space mission scheduled to take off on January 8 from the Cape Canaveral space station in Florida. Its objective is to transport, among other things, the very first financial asset to the lunar surface.
The physical bitcoin is meticulously engraved with a public address (1MoonBTCixFH3XTrWRCbMpK23o74nQrA1Q) and a private key. It represents one of the mission’s 201 payloads. In other words, this lunar mission is not exclusively dedicated to the transport of physical bitcoin (BTC).
This event is revolutionary in more than one way. Not only is it expected to mark the first moon landing of a financial asset in history. But above all, it will mark the first soft Western moon landing. This, since the Apollo 17 mission, led by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), in 1972.
A pioneering crypto initiative, accessible to astrofiles
According to reports, the bitcoin shipment to the moon will take place aboard United Launch Alliance’s (ULA) Vulcan rocket. This, in connection with Peregrine-1 which is the first commercial lunar mission of the United States. After a phase of orbit around the Earth, Peregrine-1 is expected to begin a seven-week lunar orbit phase.
Enthusiasts and the curious can follow the progress of the mission thanks to a live broadcast on NASA TV, accessible upon registration. The presence of the flagship crypto on the Moon constitutes a time capsule, preserving a momentous human innovation and a technological leap forward.
According to predictions, after the Peregrine-1 moon landing on February 23, bitcoin will remain on the lunar surface, perfectly preserved for future generations. BitMEX invites individuals to send personal messages and their satoshis to the Moon, fostering a unique connection between Earth and space.
According to BitMEX executive Stephan Lutz, this event is the symbol of a new era in the field of decentralized finance (DeFi). He imagines financial systems transcending terrestrial borders and allowing individuals to emancipate themselves in the cosmos. Samuel Reed, co-founder of BitMEX, goes in the same direction. For its part, the integration of bitcoin into lunar exploration constitutes the catalyst for a future where crypto and space exploration intertwine, propelling the evolution of BTC beyond Earth.
