Etihad Airways, like many other tech-focused airlines, is dedicating significant funds to the Web 3.0 market. A little over a year ago, the Emirati company notably launched EY-ZERO1, its very first NFT collection.
Etihad Airways’ Horizon Club project soon on track
Horizon Club, Etihad Airways’ Web 3.0 program announced a few months ago, should soon see the light of day. The airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) indicated on Monday (31 July) that the initiative would be unveiled to the public in September.
The Horizon Club program is concretely an initiative of Etihad Airways aiming at the loyalty of its customers. A project based on Web 3.0 technology offering exclusive benefits to holders of its EY-ZERO1 NFT collection.
The program should involve the launch, in limited edition, of an extension of this collection of NFT, based on Polygon. Expansion that essentially highlights the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, thematic of the action movie Mission impossible.
Through this extension, holders of these NFTs will enjoy privileges such as Etihad Guest Silver Tier status. Holding these assets also entitles them to priority check-in and lounge access.
In addition, the Horizon Club initiative should, upon its launch, introduce a staking-for-miles function. It allows community members to block their NFTs to earn Etihad Guest miles or points.
These can be redeemed for actual flights, upgrades and other benefits linked to the company’s frequent flyer program. According to her, the Horizon Club initiative is transformative for the airline industry.
By leveraging blockchain technology and NFTs, it demonstrates the ability to deliver personalized and rewarding experiences to its loyal customers. This is, for analysts, further proof of the great potential of Web 3.0 and cryptos.
